R&D Scientist - Science platforms

Description

You’ll be responsible for leading and delivering the technical development of our innovations to address the BIG SCIENTIFIC CHALLENGES that we have in Consumer Health, to evaluate and create new technology solutions to enhance the delivery of our APIs and Products – making them faster, more effective, longer lasting, or safer, with a view to elevating the self-select standard of care.

Kingston upon Hull, East Yorkshire– Hybrid Office/Lab

You will work with the team to progress cutting-edge science and technology platforms spanning across all our Self Care and Consumer Health categories including Pain, Respiratory, GI, Intimate wellness and Personal Care categories working on brands such as Nurofen, Mucinex, Gaviscon, Durex and Dettol. The role will offer the opportunity to work either via direct hands-on formulation lab feasibility or delivering through a network of 3rd party partners. This role will be a mix of laboratory and third party development.

You’ll succeed because… 

•    You’re creative, proactive, and enjoy logic and solving problems. Degree qualified in a relevant Scientific discipline (chemistry, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, biology).
•    You have hands on formulation laboratory skills, you have some experience of leading or supporting technical projects and product development, preferably including direct experience of drug delivery technologies. 
•    You are able to use your understanding of drug modes of action and delivery, to overcome limitations in order to develop and optimise formulations. 
•    Exposure to partnering with external suppliers would be highly desirable.
•    With your knowledge or experience in product development, you will easily integrate within a multifunctional framework; effectively communicating with stakeholders both internally and externally. 
•    You are independently minded, you’ll be able to deal with ambiguity and your healthy curiosity will ensure you actively seek out additional information to problem solve and troubleshoot on a variety of different drug delivery technology platforms.
•    Your R&D technical background will help you in identifying and scoping new business opportunities and future solutions that are grounded in the consumer needs relevant to our Health categories.
