Responsibilities:

 

•    Perform research activities in a diverse microbiology laboratory including virology, mycology, and bacteriology with a wide research base
•    Perform assays to understand mechanism of action and bioassays (e.g. ELISA, MIC, MBEC, time-kill, lytic assays, plaque assays, synergy studies, resistance determinations, etc) to support preclinical studies.
•    Handling and maintenance of BSL2 microorganisms and various mammalian cell culture
•    Perform culturing of microbes as well as analytics such as quantifying cell numbers, growth, CFUs, PFUs, LDH, etc
•    Assist in maintenance of routine lab operation such as cell culture inventory, media preparation, proper equipment uses, archiving MSDS 
•    Participate in the planning, conducting, and reporting of experiments conducted in the lab
•    Prepare simple formulations for in-vitro studies in the lab
•    Collaborate with the team members to enhance success of project and maintain strong relationship within partners

Qualifications:

 

•    A Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience in an academic or industry R&D laboratory, or Bachelor with 4+ years post-undergraduate laboratory experience in Molecular biology, Microbiology, immunology or related field
•    Experience in maintaining mammalian cell culture
•    Prior work experience with standard scientific equipment (i.e. UV spectrophotometer, pH meter, luminometers, Hamilton or equivalent liquid handling systems or other automated systems, LCMS, biohazard safety cabinets, anaerobic chamber, Illumina, Luminex, etc)
•    Ability to learn new techniques fast
•    Meticulous organization and record keeping skills
•    Maintain clear, legible, and detailed laboratory notebooks and computer files
•    Ability to work collaboratively with others as a member of the team to ensure that projects are handled smoothly
•    Proficiency in analyzing data, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to resolve routine issues using appropriate information
