The Global Safety Assurance (GSA) Department is a key function within Reckitt, ensuring the safety of all innovative and marketed products, driving safety by design and ensuring the application of risk assessment and safety compliance across the business.  

 

The GSA Hygiene team within GSA proactively works alongside multidisciplinary functions to contribute to the development of safe sustainable Reckitt products throughout their product lifecycle, within the Hygiene Business Unit of Reckitt.

 

This team is purposed to drive technical capability, risk assessment and seek innovative solutions to support the safety, compliance and sustainability of Reckitt marketed products.
 

Role Purpose

 

The EP Hygiene US + LATAM Manager will be located in Montvale, US, to primarily be able to proactively work alongside the R&D Operations team located in US and LATAM and to lead a small local team of toxicologists. 

 

 

This Manager will act as expert advisor and contact point for all key stakeholders with regards to safety issues and concerns impacting the existing Reckitt Hygiene portfolio managed by the US and LATAM R&D Operations teams, and with regards to ensuring Safety by Design during new product development.  The Manager will author safety assessments and also lead a small team of dedicated technical experts to deliver high quality, timely safety expertise documentation to meet business needs while ensuring products safety and compliance.  The Manager will also be involved in internal GSA projects to continuously improve the way we work in GSA and in Reckitt as a whole.
 

Responsibilities

 

•    Ensuring that the Company safety standards are met for all new and existing Company products formulated by the R&D Operations teams located in US and LATAM, through in-depth technical knowledge of consumer household products. 
•    Follow scientific and regulatory development in the field of product safety by active participation in relevant external bodies and meetings as appropriate to pro-actively address and implement new knowledge and standards where applicable.
•    Actively contribute to the development of policies, guidelines and working instructions in Reckitt related to your subject matter expertise.
•    Build strong relationships with the key stakeholders to know their priorities and needs and thereby provide them with timely and fit-for-purpose expert advice as a subject matter expert with strong business acumen.
•    Provide timely communications to internal teams and external agencies in relation to safety issues related to Reckitt marketed products.
•    Author required safety assessments
•    Perform day-to-day management of a small, dedicated team of toxicologists. 
•    As part of the management team within the Global Safety Assurance Department, provide appropriate governance and oversight to ensure delivery of timely, high quality safety output from your team, in collaboration with the other teams of GSA Hygiene 
•    Ensure the training and mentoring of toxicologists to continuously develop their technical expertise and RB safety led competencies 
•    Contribute to internal GSA projects to continuously improve our ways of working.

Skills / Experience

 

•    MSc and preferably PhD in toxicology or related discipline 
•    >10 years risk assessment experience, with preferably >5 years relevant product safety assessment experience.
•    Working knowledge of global safety-relevant regulations.
•    Clear competence in being trustworthy and maintaining high ethical standards
•    Ability to work independently.
•    You will need to display excellent communication skills in both verbal and written forms, good business acumen and interpersonal skills, to deliver the appropriate safety expertise and competencies to support innovation of the maintenance of RB products.
•    Proven ability to lead technical teams
•    As an experienced manager, you enjoy building teams and sharing your knowledge to improve results, but are also comfortable having more difficult conversations, when required.
