About the role
The Category Manager(CM) will be responsible for developing and implementing effective marketing strategies that drive brand awareness, increase penetration / market share, and ultimately contribute to the company's overall growth and success focusing on new business opportunities. This position will maximize a value of the category/segments by driving and implementing these marketing activities. Influencing our internal/external stakeholders at all levels including local management team/region/group to take a necessary action is required. Finally, this position develops a continuous product pipeline for the category/segments for Reckitt Japan business sustainability.
Your responsibilities
In summary, you'll:
- Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies to promote our products, enhance brand visibility, and drive sales growth by managing various element of the product launch process including value proposition articulation, development and execution of go-to-market strategy and internal organisational readiness.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify consumer trends, market opportunities, and competitive landscape, providing valuable insights for decision-making.
- Oversee the implementation of marketing campaigns across various channels, including digital, print, television, social media, and other relevant platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as R&D, RA, sales, and demand planning to ensure effective product launches, pricing strategies, and inventory management by understanding the scope, operational requirements and impacts of all cross-functional teams for each launch.
- Monitor marketing performance metrics, analyze data, and generate reports to assess campaign effectiveness, ROI, and make data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Encourage best-in-class marketing practices within the organization and influence organizational thinking on marketing excellence.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and marketing best practices, and leverage this knowledge to drive innovation and stay ahead of competitors.
- Implement a continuous product pipeline for category/segments, which accomplish Reckitt Japan business sustainability.
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders like agencies, vendors, and partners to ensure effective delivery of marketing initiatives and maximize brand exposure.
The experience we're looking for
- Related work experience in a marketing function with a consumer goods company.
- Diagnosing business problems and building and executing multi-faceted, long-term, strategic plans based on business challenges.
- Solid experience in the beauty and/or personal care category is preferable.
The skills for success
- Language skills: English proficiency (min: business English).
- Deeply understand '4P & 5C', apply those concepts into a game plan, and able to educate it to subordinate.
- Proven ability to operate in a matrix environment and work effectively with sales management, customers and across geographic and organizational boundaries.
- Analytical skills (including understanding of business economics and financial measures).
- Proven ability to set tactical and operational direction for the product line.
- Proven ability to determine product positioning and key promotional elements for product line.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills (both oral and written in English/Japanese).
- Ability to plan and manage projects within budget and on schedule (Sales/A&P/P&L).
- Outstanding interpersonal skills including developing relationships at all levels in an organization including Reckitt management member and directly influencing business objectives.
- Thorough understanding of overall market analysis, planning, development and management.
- Ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple tasks while adhering to specified deadlines.
- Result driven aptitude with a strong sense of accountability.
- Entrepreneurship-having a mind-set ’love to break through stalemate by hitting out of the box idea'.
