The Category Manager(CM) will lead a category/segments in charge on the points of view and processes for identifying market trends and growth opportunities, diagnosing customer needs and behaviors, predicting likely competitive dynamics, and analyzing the economics of the business so that the Reckitt Japan can make effective choices to maximize competitive advantage. This position will maximize a value of the category/segments by driving and implementing these marketing activities. Influencing our internal/external stakeholders at all levels including local management team/region/group to take a necessary action is required. Finally, this position develops a continuous product pipeline for the category/segments for Reckitt Japan business sustainability.



  1. Lead market and product opportunity assessment, strategy formulation and valuation for growth opportunities/performance improvement strategies.
  2. Integrate broad corporate/divisional business performance needs into marketing level decision-making.
  3. Manage subordinate to ensure day-to-day marketing strategy activities effectively including strategy development and revenue control.
  4. Identify and leverage best marketing practices to collaborate across all Divisions/Region/Group at Reckitt Japan.
  5. Consolidate different segments to optimize business, implement the marketing strategy, and maximize a value of category/segments in charge.
  6. Encourage best-in-class marketing practices within the organization and influence organizational thinking on marketing excellence.
  7. Manage a pricing strategy for category/segments with corporation with other departments to put the brand on the competitive advantage, achieving economic excellence.
  8. Effectively communicate with our global/regional counterparts. Built up a solid communication channel/relationship with our brand agencies and suppliers.
  9. Implement a continuous product pipeline for category/segments, which accomplish Reckitt Japan business sustainability.
  10. Build up, manage, and lead a solid team and develop a talent pipeline.
  11. May be required to perform other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION: Bachelor's or higher degree



  • Related work experience in a marketing function with a consumer goods company.
  • Diagnosing business problems and building and executing multi-faceted, long-term, strategic plans based on business challenges.
  • Solid experience in the beauty and/or personal care category is preferable.



  • English & Japanese proficiency (Business level) 
  • Deeply understand '4P & 5C' and can apply those concepts into a game plan.
  • Proven ability to operate in a matrix environment and work effectively across geographic and organizational boundaries.
  • Analytical skills (including understanding of business economics and financial measures).
