Waste Treatment Plant Operator
Description
Performs duties associated with daily operation of the Waste Treatment facility. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Monitor and troubleshoot all equipment associated with the waste treatment facility
• Perform chemical, physical, and biological testing for process monitoring and to fulfill the requirements of the NPDES permit
• Gather necessary samples
• Performs assigned preventative maintenance of waste treatment equipment
• Disassemble and assemble various machinery
• Perform quality and safety inspections on all parts and equipment
• Complete all necessary transactions, reports, and documentation
• Maintain a clean and sanitary environment
• Be able to use independent judgement and work well within a team environment
Qualifications
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or associated field or equivalent experience with State certification in municipal or industrial wastewater treatment facility is preferred
• Good understanding of wastewater treatment processes, including activated sludge, anaerobic digestion, sludge thickening, dissolved air flotation, chemical clarification, filtration and disinfection.
• By the end of the apprentice program, the following State certifications must be obtained: A1b, A1h,
• A2b, A2c, B2a, C2a, C3a, and storm water operations
