Waste Water Treatment Operator

•    Safe and compliant operation of the Industrial Wastewater Treatment system.
•    Monitor and troubleshoot all equipment associated with wastewater treatment facility.
•    Observe variation in operating conditions and interpret meter and gauge readings and test results.
•    Collect samples and conduct laboratory tests.
•    Operate laboratory instrumentation as required.
•    Respond to and correct situations causing alarms in the WWT area.
•    Performs assigned preventative maintenance activities on wastewater treatment equipment.
•    Record and take samples of all effluent discharges to be reported to the EGLE for DMR's.
•    Receive deliveries of WWT chemicals as required.


•    Associates or bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or associated field OR equivalent experience with state certification in a municipal or industrial wastewater treatment facility, required
•    Approximately 5 or more years of experience of wastewater treatment facility operation, required
•    Thorough understanding of wastewater treatment processes, including active sludge, anaerobic digestion, sludge thickening, dissolved air floatation, and chemical clarification
•    Have or be willing to obtain the following certifications within the first year of hire: A1b – Plain Clarification, A1h – Non-contact Cooling Water, A2b – Filtration of Wastewater, A2c – Air Floatation, B2a – Chemical Clarification, C2a - Disinfection, and C3a – Activated Sludge
•    Be able to use independent judgement
•    Be able to work in a team environment
•    Be able to contribute to continuous improvement and innovation activities
•    50% indoor (climate controlled) and 50% outdoor (all weather conditions) work
