Early Innovation Micro Scientist, Analytical Sciences

This role proactively supports microbiological method assessment for pediatric and adult nutrition innovation initiatives.  The successful candidate will drive needed microbiological method evaluation and test protocols to enable nutrition innovations on established timelines.  Coordinates and/or executes microbiological method development and incubation studies in the lab or with third party lab partners.  Evaluates microbiological data to drive innovation initiatives.  Active participant on early innovation project teams as an Analytical Sciences representative, delivering rapid microbiological and analytical technology/ methodology assessments.  Provides timely responses regarding microbiological research questions, project deliverables and on-going method research support.  Builds strong internal and external collaborations with global functional groups, third-party labs, raw material suppliers, and academic research partners. Researches and synthesizes scientific literature and utilizes new technologies and rapid microbiological instrumentation.  Effectively communicates scientific knowledge and concepts to technical and non-technical audiences through a variety of internal and external facing formats.  Represents Reckitt Nutrition at high impact scientific conferences and external meetings to showcase scientific insights and understandings. 
 

Position Requirements:
B.S. or M.S. in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or other relevant science degree is required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and 2-5 years microbiological research with application in method development, verification/validation, and implementation are strongly preferred. Technical knowledge and expertise in a variety of microbiological analytical tools such as PCR, microscopy and biochemical identification are required. Ability to independently operate autoclaves, prepare culture media, and maintain biological cultures is required. Working knowledge of analytical platforms such as HPLC, GC, and LC-MS/MS is preferred. Scientific literacy with evaluation and synthesis of published literature and experience with scientific writing is preferred. Collaborative and impactful communication skills with external groups and experience working on cross-functional teams within a broader organization is preferred. Adherence to all established safety guidelines and SOPs is required.  This position may potentially require the individual to work with biological, chemical or physical agents, which may pose health or safety hazards if improperly handled.
