The skills you have are:

  • Combination of both related backgrounds: packaging technology AND sustainability.
  • Knowledge of processing and use of key plastics materials (PE, PP, PET) as well as other primary, secondary and tertiary packaging materials (papers, cardboard etc).  
  • Knowledge of waste management regulations, regional directives and local recycling guidelines across US/ CAN.
  • Experience in management of teams or acted as a team leader. Proven project management skills with cross functional internal and external interactions.
  • Solid awareness of the latest technologies in Sustainability, customer (key retail chains) policies for packaging recyclability as well as NGOs driving industry change.
  • Understanding of KPIs for sustainability reporting tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the wide scene of all actors and their roles within circular economy (Local municipality collections schemes, waste management companies, sorting and material recovery - MRF’s, Recycling industry - PRF’s, conversion and re-use of recycled materials) and their capabilities and prospects in the region and globally

You will be challenged to deliver:

  • Continued support of Director Packaging Sustainability in definition and amendments of the global packaging sustainability strategy by delivering insights, identification of trends and technology innovations mid and long term.
  • Deployment of the global packaging strategy across full brand portfolio delivering a step change vs current performance. Translating the strategy into a robust European projects portfolio and assuring right prioritization of the projects with high impact score.
  • Responsible for the coordination of the European matrix organization performance of multiple packaging projects leaders with dotted line reporting local champions within factories and remote locations.
  • Benchmarking with industry peers - recent packaging sustainability launches, as well as monitoring the on pack/ in store packaging communications with regards to sustainability claims in order to outperform and lead with first time to market breakthrough packaging systems and solutions.
  • Subject matter expertise with regards to recyclability and design for recycling. Running training sessions and distributing instruction materials.
  • Run idea generation sessions to fuel regional sustainability projects pipeline for plastics reduction, replacement and PCR implementation as well as more sustainable solutions in all other packaging commodities (printed materials, secondary and tertiary packaging etc.)

  • Work in partnership with wide range of internal functions such as R&D, Supply, Global Procurement, Regulatory, Product Safety and Quality teams. Consult substantiation of sustainability claims with legal department.
  • Acting as single point of contact for strategic suppliers and external partners in the field of circular economy, NGO’s, retailers, packaging universities, institutes and relevant packaging/ sustainability associations.
  • Facilitation of internal (project in pipeline progress) as well as and external reports (current situation, progress and glide path towards pledge commitments).
  • As an insider of packaging and recycling industry, attending key international trade shows and sustainability working groups as well as representing Reckitt in external communication to demonstrate company efforts towards sustainability goals.
