Procurement Manager, External Manufacturing

Description

The primary role of the Procurement Manager is to manage North American Co-packers. The position acts in co-ordination with Global Purchasing team and supports vendor development and negotiations. It is also responsible for managing high profile projects to support new product launches, cost reduction programs and management of payment terms. The position requires an experienced manager that is able to navigate different types of spend and interface and build sustainable relations with number of different stakeholders and manage Moderate level of ambiguity in requirements and priorities.

  • Contract Manufacturing sourcing strategy development through market studies to identify best practices, identify gaps, risks and opportunities as well as to identify new suppliers and develop a supplier base. 
  • Responsible for the performance (KPI’s) of co-packers in Service, Quality & Compliance and Costs 
  •  Support Vendor Development initiatives for launch of major new products and projects in conjunction with Global and Local buyers, packaging engineering, planning cell, marketing and R&D.
  •  Project management of new products to be sourced in time and without hiccups to meet launch deadlines.
  •  Acts as single point of contact for Procurement and internal/external stakeholders for supplier governance and vendor management
  • Implement Supplier Relationship Management to improve suppliers performance, establish best quality, collaboration, innovation and cost
  • Consistently benchmarks key pricing points and provides analytical support derived from operational, technical and financial inputs to identify leverage points for negotiations.
  • Manage overall spend for Co-Packers; Development and analysis of costings for new products.
  • Contract Negotiation and Development, including development of draft contracts with the help of global buyers for international sources. 
  • Gross margin improvement analysis and implementation. Leads and aggressively drives cost saving initiatives.
  • Develops and implements significant product cost reductions both through squeeze efforts and manufacturing process improvements (xtrim).
  •  Monitor realization of cost savings and ensures price changes are reconciled in the accounting system.
  •  Achieve optimum cost while ensuring high level of quality/service and the respect of delivery targets.
  • Development of price forecasts for key market drivers; Interaction with Local & Global commodity buyers
  • Supports the international planning department towards achievement of excellent customer service through timely production of high quality products distributed on time to the appropriate logistical center
  • Performs monthly Purchase price variance analysis and implements action plans
  • Reports on a monthly basis progress report.

Qualifications

  • BS, BA or MBA degree in engineering, business, or other appropriate field, ideally with a specialty in Purchasing or Supply chain management.
  •  5-7 years of relevant work experience, including minimum of 3-years experience managing contract mfg.
  •  Minimum of 5+ years of progressively responsible managerial assignments in Consumer Products, Food, or Pharmaceutical business.
  •  Positive track record in negotiation and cost reduction projects with International vendors
