About the role

The purpose of the job is to spearhead the adoption of digital technologies to enhance manufacturing processes and results. Serve as manufacturing business owner for the implementation, deployment and optimization of digital applications, execution systems, IoT, and digital technologies within the production workflows, to further build digital capabilities that enable performance and efficiencies improvement in the manufacturing global network. The scope of the job is across BUs and across international locations.

Your responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and assess manufacturing requirements, working closely with IT & Development (IT&D) to enhance system functionalities and maximize global operational impact.
  • Define and align manufacturing processes with global digital systems and applications to ensure seamless integration.
  • Develop and implement strategies as a Global Lead, maintaining high quality standards throughout.
  • Act as a business owner, gathering inputs from manufacturing stakeholders to formulate concrete system and application proposals.
  • Review project plans, resource allocation, and performance alignment with IT&D and Manufacturing, ensuring consistency with organizational goals.
  • Coordinate and lead training initiatives with IT&D and Supply Training and Capabilities, monitor system performance, and promote continuous improvement for operational efficiency.
  • Stay informed on industry trends to advance manufacturing capabilities.

  • Develop a multi-year digital application strategy in collaboration with Business Units (BUs), Global Manufacturing Teams, and IT&D, aiding sites in creating local plans.
  • Enhance digital application and system capabilities within the manufacturing organization through academies, workshops, and assessments.
  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostics on Reliability, Process Stability (R-PS) maturity, outcomes, and benefits.
  • Utilize external and internal benchmarking to facilitate knowledge sharing across sites and regions.
  • Lead a community of practice focused on digital applications to address specific challenges and drive optimization.
  • Facilitate stakeholder communication to ensure smooth transformation processes.
  • Assess business impact and investment needs, monitoring project budgets in collaboration with stakeholders and financial control team

Typical connects are with Site Directors, IT&D in Factories, Global IT&D teams, CI/R-PS leaders, Operational Managers Global Quality, Global Safety and Health, Global Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence,  SVP Supply Leads, IoT Suppliers, Data Analysts.

To align required functionalities, priorities, roll out plan, benefits, get support to remove barriers, resources allocation, and sync timelines with other initiatives in the Supply Chain and other functions.
 

The experience we're looking for

  •  Proven experience as manufacturing functional owner on digitalization projects, for example: MES, SAP, production tasks automation, automatic data collection and reporting, real time monitoring and control, paperless and tasks reduction, AGVs, robotic systems, AR/VR technologies, collaborative tools, digital factory.
  • Competent in implementation strategies, project planning, roll out plans, vertical start up.
  • Understand business drivers and able to balance between short- and long-term objectives. 
  • Competent in training and developing training materials at all levels of the manufacturing organization. 
  • Comfortable in creating communication materials for senior leaders to facilitate governance and decision making.
  • Excellent influencing skills required.
  • Confident challenging senior directors to ensure successful impact and sustainability of Digital Solutions.

The skills for success

  • Degree in Engineering or comparable, studies in Control & Automation or similar is a plus. 
  • Minimum of 10 years progressively more responsible experience in manufacturing operations and project management leadership roles
  • Must be a recognized and ambitious leader in the company with strong background in improving operational efficiency.
  • Passion for results and efficiency driven digitalization and automation.
