This focus results in a dynamic, fast paced environment where cross functional teams are encouraged to collaborate to achieve success. We have around 10,000 sales people across the world, within market roles and ranging in areas like Field Sales, Key Accounts, Trade Marketing and Category Development.

About the role

As a Category Manager Walmart Advisor, you will report to the Director Category Growth and will be part of a high performing team with a proven track record of success in partnering for excellence. People are our competitive advantage, and you will be empowered to be an indispensable partner to Walmart by acting in a consultative capacity, providing strategic data-driven guidance and leadership to fuel Walmart’s category growth.  

The ideal candidate will operate with integrity, develop collaborative relationships, and have Walmart Advisory experience of at least two years.  You will be a category expert in the assigned category and a key team member that will work closely with the Walmart Merchant Team. Your responsibilities

In summary, you'll:

  • Have unbiased leadership and be the go to resource for category insights and analytics.
  • Synthesize actionable insights leveraging multiple data sources and tools to generate specific recommendations to drive category growth. 
  • Develop in-depth analysis utilizing storytelling skills to build a strategic Omni Channel vision with a customized plan to support the retailer’s category strategy.
  • Implement Walmart’s merchandising vision, modular process and deliver comprehensive KPI reporting.
  • Proactively identify marketplace opportunities that lead to category growth.
  • Be a self-directed expert that develops and drives initiatives with the support of shopper insights and implements own initiatives from concept to in-store execution.
  • Provide expertise in space management including the analysis of financial data and the ability to provide space related insights.
  • Analyze planograms to optimize assortment based on productivity, pricing, product, and placement utilizing third-party data sources as well as Luminate.  
  • Utilize test and learn processes to understand opportunities with clustering, product placement and assortment.
  • Strategic thought leadership in optimizing opportunities through merchandising and forward thinking in the aisle of the future integrating the endless shelf to drive Omni category growth.

The experience we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in Walmart Advisorship role
  • Expertise in JDA / Blue Yonder, Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), Syndicated Data (Nielsen, Numerator, etc.), primary and secondary research, and Luminate.
  • Proven track record of influencing within cross-functional relationships with key decision makers.
  • Proven ability to develop strong long-term client/customer relationships.
  • Proven analytical skills & ability to successfully integrate different streams of information into sound propositions.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical, decision making and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to learn new tools and capabilities to help develop and support initiatives.
  • Highly proactive with strong time management & organizational skills
  • Strong oral, written communication, and presentation skills
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Highly proactive with strong time management & organizational skills
  • Proven political understanding & resilience demonstrating the ability to operate on their own with demanding customers.

US salary ranges

USD  $110,000.00 -  $196,000.00

US pay transparency

The base salary range for this role will vary based on experience in job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law.  In addition to the base salary, the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is subject to change each year.
