Nutrition Science Lead, ASEAN
The ASEAN Nutrition Science Lead provides leadership to the ASEAN Nutrition Science team and reports to the R&D Director, Global Nutrition Science. The NS Lead works and coordinates across functions in order to support the development and execution of the innovation and non-innovation pipeline, and to ensure the safety, nutritional suitability, efficacy and regulatory compliance of nutritional formulas. He or she represents the NS function in internal regional and/or global teams, and functions as a key representative for the Company with expert scientific authorities, professional societies, trade organizations and associations, and other groups as appropriate.
Responsibilities
• Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for the Nutrition Science team in ASEAN
• Provide Nutrition Science leadership for implementing the innovation pipeline for infants, young children, children and adults in ASEAN markets
• Support and define science-based nutrition profiles for new and improved products
• Provide scientific leadership and input on claim development and substantiation, and nutrition positions and policies
• Represent NS function in project teams responsible for local and/or regional innovation projects
• Provide NS guidance to industry associations and policy-making bodies to facilitate development of appropriate nutrition policy, and to support development of appropriate regulatory standards. Network broadly with internal and external technical community to assure access to current and innovative technologies and scientific advances, and to maintain credibility with the external scientific and regulatory community
• Effectively collaborate cross functionally within global and regional R&D and the broader business
• Foster career development for nutrition scientists through coaching, mentoring, and identification of education and training opportunities
Requirements
- PhD. in Nutrition or related discipline with excellent general knowledge of nutrition. Registered Dietitian is a plus.
- 3+ years industry experience in nutritional sciences or related field, including working across multiple R&D functions. Experience in pediatric nutrition highly preferred
- Experience in successfully leading and energizing teams to deliver performance with focus
- Experience with clinical trials preferred
- Capability to interact effectively with internal stakeholders, including senior management as well as external stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop effective working relationships and networks with culturally and technically diverse groups.
- Excellent written and verbal and communication skills
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment under pressure and time constraints
