Reckitt’s Product Sustainability and Green Chemistry Manager is responsible for leading our work on sustainable materials and ingredients to build sustainability and resilience into our brands. Working with senior leaders in our R&D, Regulatory and Safety teams, you’ll identify and respond to future trends, mitigate risks and develop opportunities around the materials and ingredients we use. 

The role is grounded in the creative development of sustainability practices for materials and ingredients. The right candidate will need to demonstrate enthusiasm, stakeholder awareness, engagement and management skills together with excellent awareness of current and emerging sustainability trends. 

You’ll succeed because… 
You’ll support our product sustainability agenda :

•    Lead Reckitt’s activity on green chemistry and renewable carbon programmes 
•    Represent Reckitt at external fora and lead relationships with the Green Chemistry Commerce Council, the Renewable Carbon Initiative and other external partners
•    Support Reckitt’s product, material and ingredient sustainability strategy
•    Support the identification of key risks and opportunities from materials and ingredients in the areas of green chemistry & renewable carbon, driving alignment with relevant stakeholders to integrate ‘safe and sustainable by design’ principles into our brand strategies
•    Support our long-term horizon scanning for, and evaluation of, sustainable ingredients, considering, for example: carbon capture; emerging origin and raw materials risk; use and development of alternative feedstock origin such as carbon capture & renewable carbon 
•    Support the ingredients resiliency agenda, critically evaluating the costs, risks and benefits of sustainable alternatives and innovations
•    Support internal and external activities on ingredients certification
•    Develop corporate positions on ingredients, partnering with the wider Corporate Affairs & Sustainability team, R&D, Regulatory, Safety teams, and Reckitt’s Ingredient Steering Group. 
•    Develop stakeholder communications and engagement on sustainable ingredients and materials, including external partnerships with, for example academia and peers. 
•    Build capability internally on relevant existing and emerging areas of material and product sustainability, e.g. green chemistry and renewable carbon

You’ll love it because… you’ll have …
•    Strong scientific and technical background in green chemistry and an ability to apply this to drive a sustainable business agenda
•    Experience of product and material sustainability with excellent awareness of current and emerging trends, risks and opportunities that may affect Reckitt’s brands 
•    Significant experience of working with one or more of the following: green chemistry, sustainability, product stewardship, ingredients, packaging, and general issue management 
•    Business experience including planning, budgeting, priority setting and project management
•    Degree or postgraduate qualification in relevant technical fields (environmental sustainability, chemical engineering, chemistry, science)
