The Customer Development team is a Sales Support function that drives proactive insights to action within the US Hygiene (Household Cleaning, Auto Dish and Home Air Freshener, Laundry brands) organization. We delve into Grocery Channel (Class of Trade) trends, exploring effective strategies and learnings to fine-tune our approach to best serve our Grocery Retail Customers. The Customer Development function is a key part of the Sales Team, acting as the liaison between Customer Sales teams and internal functions (Shopper Insights, Category Management, Trade Marketing and Consumer/Shopper Activation). Our focus is on enhancing Grocery Retail Customer personalization.

 

As an Associate Customer Category Manager, you'll own Competitive Review of Promotions across Grocery. You'll champion initiatives that reflect hyper-personalization (Tailored for Grocery). You'll fine tune our Grocery channel strategy to consistently achieve maximum sales, profitability, and revenue growth. You'll develop strong relationships with Trade Marketing, Consumer/Shopper Activation and Customer Sales Teams. You'll: 

  • Identify tailored (Grocery Retail Customer) & scalable (Total Grocery) opportunities and develop “Customer Ready” activation recommendations
  • Find the right hook accelerate HH penetration
  • Propose tactics that drive conversion; displays, overlays
  • Analyze and track promotion, frequency, depth and effectiveness
  • Evaluate disruptive events & launches
  • Develop a deep knowledge of Grocery Customers (as assigned) through engagement; store walks, review of circulars and digital content, in addition to reviewing published Customer profiles (e.g., Kantar and other Market Research)
  • Identify and understand their challenges and needs

 

You'll succeed because....

…you've a background in consumer-packaged goods. There’s not much you don’t know about managing customer relationships and working with syndicated data. Equally, you know how to work with other functions to deliver sales and growth. And you’re ready to travel when required, which is vital because our products and ambitions stretch worldwide. You've:

  • Bachelor’s degree Required; Business, Marketing, Management preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years CPG sales experience required; previous experience in Customer Sales / Customer Management, Category Management / Category Insights, Trade Marketing / Trade & Promotional Planning or Shopper Marketing / Omni-channel Marketing
  • Strong familiarity of Grocery Class of Trade; previous experience with National and/or Regional Grocery Retailers, e.g., Kroger, Albertson’s, Publix, HEB, Meijer…) a plus
  • Strong proficiency in IRI, Nielsen, Numerator, 84.51 and other customer point of sale systems is required so that we can provide reliable, substantial data analysis
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Skilled data storyteller, comfortable weaving together different sources of information into a holistic story with strong recommendations
  • Digitally and omni-channel savvy
  • High level of curiosity
  • Self-starter with a passion for executing with excellence and thrives in a fast-paced environment while being adaptable, resilient and resourceful
  • Quickly establish credibility within the teams you support to impact decisions through both formal and informal influence
  • Availability to travel 10% of the time
