Packaging Technician
Description
Work closely with other Packaging Technicians, Shift Leader, Production Planner and Area Manager to organize and lead all production in a production line to maximize throughput and continuously improve KPI’s. As many of the lines are one-person only, a Manufacturing Associate will be solely responsible for the line operation and daily target delivery during his/her shift.
• Delivery of Key Performance Indicators measured across multiple shifts (ex. Overall Equipment Efficiency, Waste, Documentation Accuracy, Safety Observations, Near Misses)
• Lead line team in troubleshooting and autonomous maintenance activities, liaising with the maintenance team where necessary.
• Working with Area Manager to ensure skills are in-line with role requirements.
• Working with Production Planner, ensure changeover activities are planned and then best resourced and continuously improved.
Quality
• Ensure control plan adherence as a minimum.
Customer Service
• Deliver weekly production plan.
Health & Safety
• Ensure a pro-active, preventative approach is taken on Safety, Health and the Environment.
Plant
• Autonomously run relevant packaging equipment. Ensure appropriate minor maintenance is carried out where necessary on line, with focus on preventative rather than reactive.
Materials
• Ensure waste levels are minimized to achieve line targets
Electronic Activities
• Ensure that shift quality and line performance data is entered in a timely and accurate manner.
Training
• Participate in ensuring all team members have the necessary skills to operate their area to the required standards of quality, productivity and CI Physical Attributes
• Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs; occasional walking, constant standing, occasional bending and/or stooping, frequent reaching overhead.
• No sitting down other than lunch/breaks.
REQUIREMENTS (D=Desired, E=Essential)
• Production line experience on high-speed packaging equipment in food, chemical, or pharmaceutical environment (D)
• High School diploma or GED (E)
• Specific awareness of quality/Good Manufacturing Practice (D)
• Knowledge of a ISO manufacturing environment (D)
• Ability to work to tight targets (E) and experience of a KPI environment (D)
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and walk/stand for long periods of time (E)
• Basic skills test required (E)
