About the role

The Safety Champion is a dedicated individual working closely with the production team while maintaining a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Safety Department. This role acts as the eyes and ears of safety in their designated line or area, ensuring compliance with safety commitments, identifying potential risks, and promoting a proactive safety culture. The ideal candidate must have flexibility to work all shifts.

Your responsibilities

  • Safety Compliance

Monitor daily operations to ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulations
Conduct regular safety checks and inspections in the assigned line/area
Identify and report any unsafe conditions or behavior

  • Safety Advocacy

Act as a safety ambassador by promoting and reinforcing a culture of safety within the team
Provide support and guidance to team members on safety practices and standards
Serve as a role model for adherence to PPE and other safety measures

  • Incident Prevention and Reporting

Assist in identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks
Report near-misses, incidents, and unsafe behaviors promptly
Support investigations and root cause analysis of incidents in the area

  • Training and Communication

Facilitate communication between the production and safety teams to ensure alignment on safety goals
Participate in safety training sessions and share learnings with the team
Help implement and monitor safety initiatives and programs within the assigned area

  • Continuous Improvement

Proactively suggest improvements to processes, tools, or practices to enhance safety
Collaborate with production leaders to integrate safety considerations into daily operations
Track and report progress on safety compliance and initiatives

The experience we're looking for

  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to identify potential risks.
  • Previous experience in production or a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of safety standards and regulations is a plus.
  • Proactive attitude with the ability to take initiative.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a focus on collaboration.
  • Ability to balance safety responsibilities with production priorities.
  • This role is critical to ensuring that safety remains a top priority on the production line/area and plays a vital part in fostering a safe and compliant work environment.
  • This role is not currently sponsoring visas or considering international movement.
