About the role

The packaging Team Lead Operator is responsible for assisting the Team Supervisor and Sr. Lead Operator in obtaining scheduled packaging volumes, completing other packaging-oriented goals, and maintaining a high-level of product quality while insuring adherence to plant SOP’s, GMP’s and plant safety requirements. Strict adherence to HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), Food Safety, and Food Defense are mandatory.

Monday – Friday

5:45am – 2pm

Responsibilities

  • Certified to operate a forklift
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment failures and resolve issues
  • Knowledgeable of every operator position and demonstrates ability to perform each position if needed due to personnel shortages
  • Assists in training new operators
  • Knowledgeable of the packaging line flow and demonstrates the ability to identify deficiencies or issues during packaging operations that affect efficiencies, quality, and throughput
  • Strictly adheres to all GMP’s And SOP’s
  • Communicates directly with Supervisor(s) with any questions, comments, or concerns
  • Maintains a positive, knowledgeable attitude and works well with all personnel within the facility
  • Works closely with the Packaging Line Quality Technician(s) and reports any quality related incidents or concerns in a timely manner
  • Completes all other duties as assigned by Supervisor(s)

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Proficient in changeover and cleaning procedures on all equipment including the following:
    • Packaging Line 1
      • Depalletizer, Powder Transfer System, Powder Filler, Seamers (assist if needed), Ink Jet Coders, Conveyor Tracks/Gas Rails, Can Brush Cleaner, X-Ray (assist if needed), Can Checkweigher, Labeler, Over-capper, Case Packer, Case Coder, Shrink Wrap Tunnel
      • Can Seaming Operation
        • Can complete seam teardowns for both metal and composite cans
          • Able to identify when seam evaluations indicate out of specification seams
          • If out of specification, stop production and notify supervisor immediately
        • Can grease all seaming machines per specifications

  • Knowledge of all paperwork
    • Completes periodic checks of associated operator paperwork throughout the shift
      • Ensure that paperwork is filled out properly and follows up with operators on any identified errors
      • Ensure that checks are getting done on time and follow up on any missed or late checks
      • Ensure that only the most current forms are being used on the Packaging Line
    • Reviews paperwork at the end of the shift for accuracy and completeness
    • Proficient in the accurate and detailed completion of OIRs
    • Proficient in the detailed completion of work orders

US salary ranges

USD $25.00 / Hourly

US pay transparency

The base salary range for this role will vary based on experience in job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law.  In addition to the base salary, the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is subject to change each year.
