About the role
The Cost Analyst is responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and reporting cost structures to support effective financial planning, cost optimization, and business decision‑making. This role provides detailed cost insights to operations, finance, and leadership teams, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with internal and external standards.
Your responsibilities
- Cost Analysis & Reporting
- Perform detailed cost analysis and develop cost models to support budgeting, forecasting, and business planning.
- Monitor actual costs versus budget and provide variance analysis with explanations and recommendations.
- Prepare periodic cost performance reports and insights for management review.
- Analyze production, material, labor, and overhead costs to identify trends and cost drivers.
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Operations, Supply Chain, Finance) to gather cost‑related data.
- Provide cost projections and scenario analyses to support strategic planning.
- Cost Control & Optimization
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Track, evaluate, and validate cost‑saving initiatives initiated by operations or continuous improvement teams.
- Participate in internal cost reviews and recommend corrective actions.
- Cost Accounting Support
- Support month‑end closing activities, including preparing journal entries and reconciling cost accounts.
- Ensure accurate cost allocation and compliance with accounting standards.
- Maintain and update standard costing, BOM (Bill of Materials), and cost master data.
- Business Partnership
- Act as a cost subject‑matter expert for operations teams.
- Provide cost insights for new product introductions, project evaluations, and CAPEX requests.
- Present findings clearly to management and stakeholders.
The experience we're looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in cost analysis, cost accounting, FP&A, or manufacturing finance.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is an advantage.
The skills for success
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with a high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Solid understanding of cost accounting principles and financial analysis techniques.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial insights to non‑finance stakeholders.
