Job Summary

This Global R&D Category Manager role will assume the R&D stage gate responsibilities and accountabilities of the ideation, creation, formulation development and launch of superior innovation in personal lubricant and pleasure gels.   

The role will require a high level experience in formulation/cosmetic science, scale up, science visualisation,  people management and stake-holder management. 

 

The role will also require a high level of collaboration and partnership with global cross-functional teams to manage the long term innovation pipeline and growth. 

About the role

  • Lead a team of R&D scientists, providing coaching and mentoring to enable, ideate, formulate and consumerise innovation ensuring quality, safety, performance and superiority all at the core  
  • Develop teams to out perform through application of deep science and rigor  
  • To partner global marketing, supply and x-f partners to build and deliver superior global pipelines 
  • R&D leadership both in strategy and executional excellence  
  • Own the product strategy and develop technology strategies leading and supporting the innovation masterplan for  the short, medium and long term growth 
  • Own product demos to consumerise the science of innovation both internally and externally 
  • As part of the R&D site management team, activity drive partnership and collaborations across the site and teams  
  • Build relationships internal and external, including supplier(s) and consultants where needed.. 
  • Champion Intellectual property, encouraging a spirit to identify opportunities to generate Intellectual Property, or alternative options to drive technology ownability. 

Your responsibilities

Typical responsibilities would include (but not limited to); 

  • People development and management between 10-15 people 
  • Lead a team of scientists to support concept creation, formulation development, scale up and commerialisation ensuring deep science understanding and rigor is applied 
  • Ensuring relevant medical device, cosmetic and product internal and external requirements are met  
  • Build robust technical evidence strategies and support wider medical/clinical and regulatory  evidence strategies   
  • Ensure team(s) lead and support internal and external audits to relevant standards and quality    
  • Prioritise workload across the team (s) to deliver the short, medium and long term innovation needs 
  • Ensure budget and innovation delivery on time   
  • Partner with x-f leadership leads to drive innovation, continuous improvement and collaboration  
  • Champion and lead by example through Reckitt core values and leadership behaviours 
  • Drive and championing culture, inclusion and wellbeing across the teams locally and globally

  • Be aware, accountable and follow GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) rules & regulations. 
  • Enforce quality mind & awareness for working in area by following documented procedures & follow good documentation practice. 
  • Be compliance to requirements of ISO13485 and other relevant regulatory requirements as required based on role & function responsibility. 
  • Always think “Quality is my responsibility”. 

Safety, Health & Environment : 

  • Be aware, accountable for safety, health and environment in workplace all time to ensure free-accident and good environment area of working.   
  • Follow which support the safety, health and environment regulations, company policies by working safely, reporting unsafe condition / unsafe action / near miss accident to supervisor as well as suggest for any improvement. 
  • Be compliance to requirements of ISO14001, ISO45001, other relevant EHS regulatory and company EHS requirements as required based on role & function responsibility. 
  • Always think "Safety, Health and Environmental is my responsibility".   

The experience we're looking for

  • Good degree in a relevant scientific discipline  
  • 7 + years experience in an R&D Leadership role.
  • Experience of consumerisation of science to demonstrate superiority 
  • People management and people development experience is vital, with good motivational, interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Coaching & mentoring skills is an essential quality with the ability to give constructive balanced feedback when needed to develop and grow talent  
  • High level Project Management Skills 
  • Experience working on products with several different regulatory classifications would be beneficial. I.e Medical devices, personal care products, cosmetics and general products is essential  
  • Prioritization, communication, senior stakeholder management ,story telling and collaboration are essential to succeed in this role 
  • The role requires strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently within a multi-disciplinary project team.  
  • Strong technical & problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to navigate through ambiguity are an essential requirement of the role.
