About the role

The Packing Manager is responsible for leading and controlling packing operations to ensure customer requirements are met on time while maximizing efficiency and effective use of machines and workforce. The role involves collaborating with the Operations Manager on medium- to long-term projects to assess factory capabilities and identify improvements in resources and equipment. The Packing Manager also drives a best‑practice and continuous improvement culture to enhance operational performance, quality, and productivity.

Your responsibilities

  • Monitor, control, and report all packing operations performance on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Lead and supervise all packing activities in compliance with Safety standards (Zero LTA), GMP, 5S, and departmental safety initiatives.
  • Prepare, manage, and control the packing department budget, ensuring cost efficiency and alignment with business objectives.
  • Ensure packing production orders are executed right first time, meeting quality, quantity, and delivery requirements.
  • Drive packing productivity improvements through enhanced line efficiency, manpower utilization, yield improvement, and scrap reduction.
  • Develop, maintain, and update all packing-related documentation, including SOPs, safety plans, environmental control plans, operator plans, organization charts, and training plans on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Coordinate with the management team on CAPEX planning and improvement projects such as Squeeze and X‑Trim initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Engineering team to support new investments, including machine installation, replacement, and relocation projects.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to establish and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, spare parts management, and equipment calibration plans (monthly and annually).
  • Review and report daily packing performance, including output, OEE, headcount, and safety issues, to the Operations Director during Daily Manufacturing Meetings.
  • Conduct and participate in weekly operational meetings with Primary and Secondary production departments.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service, Production Planning, Materials, and Shipping teams to align monthly demand, service levels, and issue resolution.
  • Manage the ordering and control of all packing equipment, tools, and spare parts.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Assurance team to establish quality control processes and manage packing department responsibilities related to finished goods customer complaints.
  • Develop and support team capability, including SAP competency and operational strategy skills.
  • Control and manage all SAP-related activities within the packing area, including inventory management, production execution, and stock transfers.
  • Support SAP system changes, including master data, routing, production versions, and related updates.
  • Provide training, coaching, and development to ensure all packing department employees achieve required competency, performance, and compliance standards.

The experience we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5–10 years of experience in production or manufacturing operations, with at least middle management level responsibility.
  • Proven experience working in a multi‑national or large-scale manufacturing environment, preferably within FMCG operations.
  • Fully PC literate, with strong proficiency in SAP, particularly Production and Manufacturing-related modules.
  • Sound knowledge and hands-on experience with ISO Management Systems, GMP, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and shop-floor management.
  • Strong professional background in production and packing operations management within an FMCG environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, communicate, and interact effectively with a diverse workforce across multiple levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement.
