About the role

R&D Product Delivery and Maintenance (PDM) is the R&D function responsible for products once they are launched on the market. The teams are based around the globe, working closely with R&D category development teams, supply, procurement, and commercial teams to identify and deliver projects to protect the existing business in addition to increasing the profitability of our products through cost saving programs. The role of a senior scientist in R&D PDM is to plan, manage and implement functional specific work associated with infant and child nutrition projects and portfolios, delivering complex projects, solving technical problems and recommending options to ensure that milestone plans are met. The senior scientist is responsible for executing strategy for the group, delivering team KPI’s and for managing a team of associates and assistants, supporting their personal development and the delivery of their own projects. Your responsibilities

  Provide Strategic direction to the team in order to: • Provide leadership, development & line management to your team.

• Deliver technical projects, ensuring that activities are executed to the standards required for the relevant product classification.

• Ensure all required formulation, feasibility work, analysis, validation, stability testing, industrial trials and dossier preparation are performed on time and to the required quality and regulatory standards and in line with the MJN processes. Ensure all documentation is fit for purpose and audit ready. Please note that the duties and responsibilities within this role may change over the course of employment, which will require flexibility

• Generate and approve data which support product changes to a standard required by MJN and to meet regulatory authority standards

• Support the wider team with respect to required activities that support operations in shared laboratories 

• Develop team knowledge and expertise to provide support for a given product portfolio

• Support the manager in measuring and reporting team KPIs to senior management

• Oversee and maintain team compliance with MJN working practices e.g. change management 

The experience we're looking for

• Educated to at least Degree level (Food/Nutritional Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other relevant science)

• R&D experience with a proven track record of delivery

• Line management and people development of a team

• Understanding of nutritional and food science or similar

• Experience of working closely with the supply organization

• Track record of generating technical documentation and reports to support product registration

• An excellent technical problem solver

• Proven track record in active collaboration with R&D and non-R&D functions

• Experience with resource planning and prioritization

• Ability to deliver through others PERSONAL ATTRIB

R&D leadership of a designated range of products with the key goal of protecting the business through the delivery of compliance programs and supply service maintenance as well as implementation of cost saving initiatives to increase profitability. • To work with partners (supply, regulatory, nutrition science, PMO, legal, Marketing, Category R&D) to deliver projects/solutions across the infant and child nutrition portfolio. • To formulate, validate and implement a range of portfolio improvement and maintenance projects • Identification for finding and working with 3rd parties as needed to progress projects and bring in new capabilities. • Taking lead on ways to improve our ways of working within R&D & with other functions for process improvement • Responsible for various technologies.
