About the role

As the Marketing Governance Manager, you will ensure compliance, financial governance, and operational integrity across all marketing processes. You will oversee marketing spend accuracy, enforce governance standards, and drive continuous improvement in financial controls and reporting. This role requires strong expertise in marketing operations, financial compliance, and stakeholder management. 

Your responsibilities

-Enforce marketing governance policies, financial controls, and legal entity compliance across campaigns, budgets, and vendor processes  

-Manage month-end and year-end closures, prepare journal entries, perform balance sheet reconciliations, and ensure accurate P&L impact for marketing spend  

-Validate media plans, review budget submissions, and confirm alignment with approved budgets and accounting principles  

-Maintain master data, hierarchy structures, and campaign classifications; ensure data quality and audit readiness; provide reporting and dashboard support  

-Review vendor details for accuracy, manage invoice workflows, resolve exceptions, and ensure proper classification of customer-related payments  

-Provide end-user training on governance processes, accounting foundations, and system usage; act as liaison between marketing teams and finance  

-Strengthen internal controls, improve accounting accuracy, and drive process enhancements for compliance and operational efficiency. 

The experience we're looking for

-7–12 years of progressive experience in marketing operations, financial governance, or related roles within large, complex organizations  

-Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline; professional certifications (CPA, CMA) preferred. 

-Proven track record in managing marketing budgets, enforcing compliance standards, and supporting audit readiness  

-Hands-on experience with month-end and year-end financial close processes, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations  

-Strong background in vendor management, invoice processing, and purchase order workflows  

-Demonstrated ability to lead governance initiatives and drive continuous improvement in financial and operational controls  

-Experience acting as a system administrator or superuser for marketing finance platforms  

-Exposure to global marketing spend management and cross-functional collaboration with finance, procurement, and marketing teams
