About the role
As GBS RTR Financial Accounting Specialist, you will support accurate, timely, and policy‑compliant execution of core financial accounting within the Record‑to‑Report (RTR) process. You will prepare and post journals, perform accruals and cut‑offs, complete balance sheet reconciliations, and help substantiate general ledger balances with audit‑ready documentation.
Your day‑to‑day includes tracking close calendar tasks, investigating variances and preparing flux support, maintaining standardised workpapers, and ensuring all entries and reconciliations adhere to accounting policies and control requirements. You will use ERP and reconciliation tools to improve data integrity, reduce manual effort, and contribute to standardisation and automation initiatives that enhance efficiency and control.
Summary of responsibilities:

Support financial accounting and general ledger integrity across the RTR process

Prepare and post journals (recurring and onetime) in line with policy, cut-offs, and approval thresholds

Deliver accurate balance sheet reconciliations; clear open items and document resolutions to close timelines

Perform variance/flux analyses and provide audit ready explanations and supporting evidence

Coordinate PBCs and provide documentation for internal/external reviews as directed by the manager

Contribute to data quality improvements (chart of accounts mappings, coding standards, master data)

Improve standardisation and automation of journals, reconciliation templates, and close checklists

Maintain strong governance and control evidence to mitigate compliance risks and support audit readiness
Your experience & Skills:
- Portuguese advanced or business conversational
-
1–4 years of experience in financial accounting, RTR/controllership, or related finance operations (shared services/global process exposure preferred)

Working knowledge of period end close: journal processing, accruals/cutoffs, reconciliations, and flux support

Awareness of accounting policy fundamentals (e.g., IFRS/US GAAP concepts) and documentation standards

Proficiency with ERP and reconciliation tools (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, BlackLine or similar) and strong Excel skills (lookups, pivots)

Understanding of internal controls, audit readiness, and disciplined workpaper preparation

Analytical problem-solver with high attention to detail and dependable time management across recurring deadlines

Clear written and verbal communication for workpaper narratives and exception reporting; continuous improvement mindset
