Research & Development
The R&D Technician is indispensable for maintaining lab operations, ensuring equipment is in optimal condition, managing inventory efficiently, and keeping the workspace well-organized.
This critical role supports the Sensory Consumer Science & Flavours (SCSF) department by organizing and executing internal sensory studies that are essential for driving product development.
Furthermore, the technician plays a key role in managing QualityOne and documenting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to guarantee consistent and accurate processes within the global team. He/she also collaborates closely with team members on various projects, significantly contributing to the department's overall success.
Your responsibilities
- Lab and Inventory Management: Maintain lab and supplies, ensuring a clean, organized, and safe workspace. Track, update, and audit product inventory accurately.
- Sensory Evaluations: Coordinate and manage sensory panel schedules, organize and execute internal sensory studies, and support small group product tasting sessions.
- Data Management: Document and report on sensory characteristics of products, compile sensory study data and perform basic analysis.
- Project Support: Assist project managers with training setups, bench tastings, and consumer test logistics, etc.
- Flavours Initiatives: Assist the flavor team with material preparation and other flavor related activities as required.
- Administrative Support: Handle general administrative tasks, including invoices, and purchasing supplies.
- QualityOne and SOP Documentation: Serve as the Document Controller for QualityOne for the global SCSF team. Review and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) updated to ensure consistent and accurate processes
- Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) practices, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Internal panel management: Assist with screening and training programs using prescribed protocols and manage the incentive program for internal panellists
- Other activities assigned by manager.

The skills for success
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of applications
- Excel Proficiency in Compusense Cloud and XLSTAT are an asset
- Intermediate-Advanced English level
- Desired knowledge:
- Sensory & Consumer methodologies and Good Laboratory Manufacturing practices
- Professional Experience:
- Minimum 1 year (>1 year preferred) experience in a Sensory laboratory environment
- Academic Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in food chemistry, Food engineering, Nutrition Science preferred.
