About the role

The Food Safety Standards Manager for Nutritional Products is responsible for developing, implementing, and continually improving global food safety standards, policies, and requirements across the nutrition product portfolio.  This role ensures that all products-from formulation through manufacturing, packaging, and distribution – meet or exceed regulatory, customer, and internal safety expectations.  The position provides strategic technical leadership, harmonizes food safety standards across regions, and partners cross-functionally to proactively identify and mitigate risks in the nutrition category.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead the development, maintenance, and governance of food safety standards and technical requirements across nutritional product categories (infant formula, medical nutrition, supplements, powdered and ready‑to‑drink beverages).
  • Establish and continuously update risk‑based food safety requirements aligned with global regulations, Codex Alimentarius, FSSC 22000, and hazard control principles.
  • Develop category‑specific and process design standards, including powder handling, allergen controls, and hygienic design.
  • Define and oversee critical food safety controls for high‑risk nutrition products, addressing microbiological, chemical (e.g., heavy metals), and physical hazards.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with R&D, Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams to embed food safety requirements early in product and process design.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to manufacturing sites, co‑manufacturers, and suppliers to ensure compliance with category‑specific food safety standards.
  • Lead audits, assessments, and periodic reviews of food safety implementation across internal sites and external partners, driving corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyze global food safety data, trends, incidents, testing results, and audit findings to drive continuous improvement, training, and capability building.

The experience we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Safety, Nutrition, or a related discipline; advanced degree (MS/PhD) preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance within the food or nutritional products industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of microbiological, chemical, and physical hazards relevant to nutritional and high‑risk food categories.
  • Demonstrated expertise in HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000/FSSC 22000, and global food safety regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience establishing, implementing, or maintaining global food safety standards or quality management systems.
  • Background working with high‑risk or sensitive nutrition categories (e.g., infant or clinical nutrition) and complex global supply chains preferred.
  • Proven capability in strategic, system‑level problem solving, technical writing, and development of standards and requirements.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, data analytics, and risk assessment skills, with ability to lead effectively in a matrixed, global environment; certifications such as PCQI or HACCP Lead Instructor preferred.
