About the role

The Instrumentation & Calibration Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and traceability of measurement systems and instruments used throughout the facility. This role manages calibration programs, supports quality and reliability initiatives, investigates measurement-related issues, and ensures compliance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements.

 

The successful candidate will work closely with maintenance, engineering, operations, quality, and laboratory teams to maintain measurement integrity and drive continuous improvement in equipment performance.

Your responsibilities

  • Manage and execute the site's calibration program for process, production, and maintenance instrumentation.
  • Train and support Electronic Technicians in instrumentation principles, calibration procedures, and best practices.
  • Perform, coordinate, and document calibrations of measurement and test equipment.
  • Establish and maintain calibration intervals based on risk, historical performance, and industry best practices.
  • Ensure measurement traceability to recognized standards.
  • Develop and maintain calibration procedures, work instructions, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and measurement system issues affecting product quality or equipment reliability.
  • Analyze calibration data and identify trends that may indicate equipment degradation or process variability.
  • Support root cause investigations related to measurement failures, out-of-tolerance conditions, and quality incidents.
  • Coordinate calibration activities with external service providers and vendors.
  • Coordinate with production teams to allow downtime for instrumentation testing.
  • Maintain calibration databases and inspection records.
  • Monitor, manage, and communicate calibrations that are past due.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with company policies, quality systems, and applicable standards.
  • Support discussions with regulatory agencies over calibrations.
  • Assist engineering and maintenance teams during equipment installations, upgrades, and commissioning activities.
  • Work with toolroom team to verify spare parts inventory and part obsolescence sourcing.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on measurement accuracy, reliability, and efficiency.

The experience we're looking for

  • Associate's degree in electronics technology.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in calibration, instrumentation, metrology, or measurement systems.
  • Experience with calibration of pressure, temperature, flow, level, electrical, and dimensional measurement devices.
  • Working knowledge of measurement uncertainty and traceability principles.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and instrumentation documentation.
  • Proficiency with calibration management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance and asset management principles.

Pay range

 USD 30 -  35 per hour

The base salary range for this role will vary based on experience in job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to the base salary, the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is subject to change each year.
