About the role

Senior Scientist, Vivid will support the delivery and operation of an integrated in-line and near-line measurement program as part of a major supply transformation initiative. This role will act as the primary technical lead for implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving Process Analytical Testing (PAT) capabilities across Mead Johnson Nutrition’s pilot and manufacturing facilities. The position requires strong cross-functional collaboration with Supply, Quality, and R&D teams, and includes managing high-impact assignments, aligning technical solutions with business objectives, and contributing to the evolution of manufacturing analytics. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader capable of independently navigating complex projects, communicating effectively across teams, and delivering measurable results in a dynamic environment.

Your responsibilities

  • Drive PAT system development across multiple instrument platforms from concept to execution for maximum business delivery. 
  • Maintain rapid testing equipment with coordination of on-site staff at all locations employing these technologies.
  • When instruments malfunction or measurements are out of trend, assist site contacts to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Monitor latest advances in PAT technologies and augment in-line and near-line analysis tools to ensure program continually evolves.  Expand program to maximize information from current instrument platforms and introduce the latest rapid testing equipment.
  • Execute defined tasks within a cross-functional project workstream.
  • Participate in project meetings, manage documentation, and support timeline development.
  • Communicate project progress, risks, and results across business functions.
  • Ensure alignment with strategic priorities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

The experience we're looking for

  • B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, or a related field. 
  • Relevant experience in the following technical areas:
    • interpretation of spectroscopic data
    • quantitative and qualitative chemometric model development
    • design of experiment (DOE) for optimal multivariate model outputs 
    • physical property test methodologies
    • in-line and near-line analytical instrumentation in manufacturing settings
    • troubleshooting analytical equipment, especially rapid analysis tools
  • Ability to coordinate real-time data across multiple sites to drive decision-making.
  • Periodic travel to manufacturing facilities to drive PAT programs.
  • Established experience in navigating cross-functional projects and programs.
  • Demonstrated skills to balance multiple projects concurrently. 
  • Support / lead the research of equipment solutions, identifying new technologies, finding appropriate existing technologies for an organization. 
  • Proven ability to manage ambiguity and deploy effective use of creative problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office and analytical measurement systems software.

Salary Range

USD $99,000.00 -  $149,000.00

Pay Transparency

The base salary range for this role will vary based on experience in job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to the base salary, the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is subject to change each year.
