About the role
The Transportation Analyst is responsible for analyzing transportation activities, supporting transportation strategy execution, managing carrier and parcel provider relationships, overseeing freight audit and payment processes, coordinating transportation claims, and driving data-based solutions that support operational efficiency, service excellence, and company cost initiatives. This position reports to the Freight Out Manager.
Your responsibilities
- Manage the freight audit and payment process, including invoice validation, discrepancy resolution, and coordination with carriers and third-party freight payment providers to ensure accurate and timely payment of transportation expenses.
- Coordinate and support transportation claims management, including filing freight loss and damage claims, tracking claim status, collaborating with carriers and internal stakeholders, and ensuring timely resolution and recovery.
- Act as the primary point of contact and relationship owner for parcel transportation providers, managing service performance, contract compliance, billing accuracy, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Leverage transportation and logistics data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities; develop actionable recommendations to resolve operational, service, and cost-related issues.
- Develop and maintain transportation performance metrics and dashboards, providing data-driven insights to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts related to transportation execution, carrier performance, shipment visibility, and service failures to minimize operational disruptions.
- Manage parcel spend and performance reporting, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, service enhancement, and network optimization.
- Support the planning, execution, and analysis of the annual transportation Request for Proposal (RFP) process, including data collection and validation, carrier bid analysis, cost and service comparisons, stakeholder coordination, implementation support, and tracking realized savings and performance improvements.
The experience we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Analytics, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or a related analytical role. Experience in using Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP systems, and business intelligence/reporting tools preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of transportation and logistics practices, including carrier management, freight audit and payment, parcel operations, transportation claims, intermodal transportation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications (Access, Word, PowerPoint); experience working with databases, reporting tools, and large data sets required.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, uncover root causes, and translate data into actionable business recommendations.
- Proven ability to independently identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and service enhancements.
- Self-motivated and results-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability; able to work effectively with minimal supervision and proactively drive initiatives from concept through implementation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing business needs, and consistently deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
