About the role

The role of R&D Associate is to support the development of new products and technologies based on relevant consumer insights across the Global Personal care.
The R&D Associate will be responsible for formulation development, analytical testing while contributing to manufacturing process development and continuous improvement, ensuring operational efficiency and effective project planning to deliver agreed development milestones.

Based within the Category R&D structure the role is positioned to manage hands on scientific and technical aspects to support specified projects.
The role is based out of Gurgaon, India within the Global Category R&D facility for Global Personal care. The role reports to R&D Senior Associate.

Your responsibilities

Lead regional technical development including formulation and process development on key bar soap initiatives for Reckitt’s Dettol brand by leveraging prior experience/expertise to help drive pipeline growth.

Initiate and leverage partnerships with local and global raw material suppliers to deliver existing and new bar soap innovation needs.

Develop technical plans to meet project brief objectives and conduct all technical testing to deliver high quality innovation

Conduct bar soap trials at lab /Pilot Scale and commercial scale to define critical manufacturing process parameter and validate the same to enable method of manufacture development.

Monitor critical process parameters and implement corrective/preventive recommendations while manufacturing process development.

Contribute to root cause analysis (RCA), and failure investigations while troubleshooting manufacturing process.

Report test/factory trial results, draw conclusions from trials and prepare manufacturing process summary reports.

Proposes operating instructions for updating manufacturing process manuals / SOPs and trains the team and operators in the use of modified manufacturing processes

Responsible for ensuring that all development activity within the team conforms to health & safety and quality requirements.

Maintain laboratory equipment and execute laboratory work according to required safety and quality standards, as defined in the company's SOPs.

Document all feasibility development work in laboratory notebooks as per internal quality standards

The experience we're looking for

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s Degree (Chemical engineering, Pharmacy, Cosmetic technology or other relevant field of science).
EXPERIENCE

5–7 years of experience in Research and Development, preferably in Bar soap formulation and processing.

Know-how of statistical tools to establish process control.

Strong knowledge of unit operations, scale up and manufacturing process optimisation

Capable to work independently toward multiple project objectives within established timelines.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment, including cross-functional project teams involving members from Marketing, Supply, Manufacturing, Quality, procurement and regional R&D teams

Working and collaborating with cross cultural functional teams to deliver project objectives

Ready for a fast-paced response to demanding customer requirements with challenging timelines

Responsible for supporting the delivery of specific project milestones without comprising on safety and quality standards

Must be willing/able to travel (up to 25%) to support project needs PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE

Well versed with statistical design of experiments for manufacturing process optimization & validation

Proficiency in digital tools for data modelling for scale up and process development. R&D experience in development of surfactant-based formulation with a proven track record of delivery.

Understanding of microbiology, clinical & instrumental testing methodology of skin care products to support future claims across Dettol personal care product format

Strong technical knowledge in Surfactant chemistry, Soaps, Microbiology, & Skin Science
