About the role
As the IT&D Manager, Data Platforms, you will champion value-based delivery, ensuring that platform initiatives align with and support business outcomes. You will drive operational excellence across products and programs by utilizing advanced analytical techniques to proactively identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
In this managerial role, you will foster a culture of continuous improvement, enabling the transfer of best practices across the organization. You will provide hands-on leadership to the platform team, guiding and mentoring Data Platform Engineers to design and operate stable, scalable, and cost-effective architectures.
Your responsibilities
- Drive operational excellence across products and programs, ensuring projects are delivered on time and meet business requirements.
- Support program and project managers in the design, planning, and governance of implementation projects.
- Translate business needs into technical roadmaps and negotiate trade-offs across competing priorities to ensure successful delivery.
- Execute the data mesh enablement roadmap and evaluate new technologies to enhance platform capabilities.
- Leverage GenAI tools to accelerate data engineering workflows and support the integration of AI/ML capabilities into platform pipelines
- Drive the adoption of these innovations within the team, mentoring engineers on how to utilize GenAI for code optimization and documentation.
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of internal Data Platform Engineers and external vendor resources, ensuring a unified approach to delivery and engineering excellence.
- Manage operational relationships with external vendors and partners, ensuring adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs), resource quality, and cost efficiency
- Foster a collaborative culture that promotes knowledge transfer between internal staff and external partners to reduce single points of failure.
- Own the end-to-end stability and availability of the Enterprise Data Platform, acting as the primary custodian for uptime and performance.
- Design and implement robust monitoring, alerting, and incident management frameworks to proactively identify risks before they impact business users
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) processes for major incidents and drive remediation plans to prevent recurrence, ensuring a "stable and scalable" environment.
- Drive the automation of routine infrastructure tasks (provisioning, patching, maintenance) using CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) to minimize manual errors and improve stability.
- Define and test Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity plans, ensuring rigorous backup procedures and failover strategies are in place
- Continuously optimize platform performance and cost, balancing infrastructure scaling with budget constraints.
The experience we're looking for
- 12+ years of experience in the data and analytics space, with significant recent experience in a Managerial, Delivery Lead, or Platform Owner capacity.
- Proven track record of leading teams (internal and vendor) to deliver stable, scalable, cloud-native data platforms (SaaS/PaaS based architectures).
- Strong experience in Program Management; ability to lead multiple parallel initiatives, manage roadmaps, and translate business requirements into platform deliverables.
- Experience in vendor management, including drafting SOWs, managing SLAs, and ensuring delivery quality from external partners.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or technical management preferred.
- Certifications in Cloud Fundamentals (e.g., Azure Fundamentals, Azure Data Fundamentals) or Project Management (e.g., PMP, Prince2, Agile/Scrum) are highly desirable.
