About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Software Asset Management (SAM) team as a Senior Analyst. This role is crucial in ensuring effective governance, compliance, optimization, and strategic utilization of software assets across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring deep licensing expertise, hands-on technical knowledge, and a process-oriented mindset to drive maximum value from our software investments.
Your responsibilities
- Oversee and guide the SAM BAU team in managing the complete software lifecycle from procurement to retirement, ensuring accurate tracking and governance of software assets.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of licensing models and agreements for Tier-1 publishers such as Microsoft, Adobe, IBM, Oracle, VMware and SAP, as well as other vendors.
- Streamline and enforce SAM processes including software requisition, procurement, allocation, deployment, and decommissioning to enhance asset visibility and resource efficiency.
- Lead initiatives for license optimization and remediation across the IT landscape. Collaborate with technical teams and vendors to resolve issues swiftly and effectively.
- Define and standardize reporting templates and dashboards to monitor publisher compliance, license usage, and risk.
- Review and validate Effective License Position (ELP)s, Critical Service Level (CSL)s and Key performance indicator (KPI)s developed by the SAM BAU team.
- Support and manage vendor license audits by coordinating with internal stakeholders along with the SAM BAU team.
- Track upcoming software renewals, analyze license utilization, and recommend opportunities for cost optimization. Support procurement and business teams during renewal negotiations.
- Address license-related queries from stakeholders, providing timely resolutions and escalating complex issues to the SAM Manager as needed.
The experience we're looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in Software Asset Management with a strong grasp of ITAM and ITSM frameworks.
- Proficient in IT infrastructure, virtual/cloud environments, software licensing models, software contract management and license optimization.
- Experience managing ELPs, compliance positions, audit readiness, and vendor relationships.
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow SAM, CMDB, Discovery, or similar asset management tools.
- Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Certifications
- ITIL Foundation or higher
- Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM)
- ISO 19770 (preferred)
Preferred Skills & Knowledge
- Hands on experience in ServiceNow SAM tool and processes.
- Exposure to cloud licensing models and SaaS subscription management.
- Experience in conducting or managing software audits.
