About the role

The SAP Development / ABAP & BTP Application Developer will play a key role in designing, building, and optimizing enterprise-grade applications across S/4HANA and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). This role requires deep hands-on expertise in ABAP, RAP/CAP programming models, OData services, Fiori/UI5 development, and cloud-native engineering practices. The developer must demonstrate strong technical problem solving, clean core development discipline, and the ability to build scalable, secure, and high performance digital applications aligned with business needs.

Your responsibilities

• Designs and develops high quality custom solutions in SAP S/4HANA using ABAP, ABAP OO, OData, CDS Views, and modern development frameworks (RAP).
• Builds cloud applications on SAP BTP using CAP, Node.js/Java, SAP HANA Cloud, and Fiori Elements, ensuring scalability, security, and lifecycle manageability.
• Develops and maintains interfaces using SAP BTP Integration Suite, APIs, events, and modern integration patterns aligned with clean-core principles.
• Creates Fiori/UI5 applications with strong UX standards and responsive design principles.
• Adopts “clean core” and “extensibility-first” development practices to minimize modifications in S/4HANA and promote cloud-readiness.
• Works closely with functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications and builds robust, efficient, and maintainable solutions.
• Develops automated unit tests, conducts code reviews, ensures adherence to development standards, and maintains strong documentation discipline.
• Optimizes performance of ABAP programs, database queries, and integration flows to ensure enterprise-grade stability and performance.
• Builds reusable libraries, frameworks, and digital assets to accelerate development across teams.
• Full understanding on 3PL and Customer integrations, develops and supports integrations using EDI, IDocs, ALE, and related interface frameworks, ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable data exchange across internal and external systems.
• Supports SAP upgrades, feature pack updates, and regression testing by ensuring custom code compatibility and clean-core alignment.
• Develops secure applications following SAP security best practices (authorizations, CDS access control, OAuth/JWT for BTP, identity authentication).
• Works with DevOps tools for CI/CD, transport automation, repository-based development, and lifecycle management across on prem and BTP environments.
• Engages in continuous learning of SAP’s emerging technologies such as Joule, AI-based automation, generative AI extensibility, and BTP innovations.
• Collaborates with architects, product owners, and integration teams to design end-to-end solutions across ERP, BTP, cloud services, and non-SAP systems.

The experience we're looking for

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
• 8–12 years of experience in SAP development across ABAP, S/4HANA, and cloud development environments.
• Strong hands-on expertise in ABAP RICEF objects, CDS Views, OData services, BOPF, Fiori UI5, and event-driven development.
• Experience with SAP BTP development including CAP/RAP models, HANA Cloud, Cloud Application Programming, API management, and Integration Suite.
• Solid understanding of SAP Fiori design principles and experience developing responsive Fiori/UI5 apps.
• Familiarity with Git-based development, automated testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps tooling.
• Strong knowledge of SAP extensibility models (in-app, side-by-side, and developer extensibility).
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate with global teams and translate functional requirements into technical solutions.
• Willingness to explore and adopt new SAP technologies including Joule, Business AI, process automation, and event mesh.
• Willingness to travel globally (5–25%).
