About the role
As the Senior Manager of Data Engineering, you will champion value-based delivery, ensuring that business analytics and insights translate directly into tangible business outcomes. You will drive operational excellence across products and programs by utilizing advanced analytical techniques to proactively identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and elevate overall performance levels.
Your responsibilities
• Own reusable data ingestion & processing
Design and lead reusable ingestion frameworks, transformation libraries, and patterns that domain teams can self serve across batch, streaming, and real time workloads.
• Set cross domain data standards
Define and enforce enterprise standards for data modelling, schema evolution, quality, lineage, security, and metadata to ensure data products are consistent and interoperable across domains.
• Enable and unblock domain teams
Provide templates, accelerators, POCs, and hands on guidance so domain teams can rapidly build and operate their own data products using shared tooling and reusable components.
• Build and run cloud data foundations
Architect and oversee cloud-based data environments (Data Lake, Data Warehouse, Ingestion and Processing pipelines), including migration from legacy systems and ongoing optimization.
• Lead team and engineering excellence
Manage and mentor a central team of data engineers, drive code quality, reviews, best practices, automation, and a culture of continuous improvement and reuse.
• Run the central Data COE (Center of Excellence)
Oversee the Data COE function to establish and maintain enterprise standards, drive adoption across domains, automate engineering tasks (CI/CD, testing, deployment), and ensure consistent application of best practices and governance frameworks.
The experience we're looking for
• 15+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, with prior roles as Data/Application Architect or Engineering Lead
• Proven track record designing and delivering large-scale, cloud-native data solutions (SaaS/PaaS/API-based architectures)
• Deep expertise in ETL/ELT technologies, data warehousing, and big data processing (Spark, Hadoop, Databricks)
Cloud & Modern Data Stack
• Expert proficiency in Microsoft Azure, specifically Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure Databricks
• Strong experience with schema management, data governance, and cost optimization in cloud data environments
• Hands-on experience migrating legacy systems to modern cloud platforms
Data Architecture & Modelling
• Strong grasp of conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling (ER modelling, dimensional modelling, star schema)
• Familiarity with data modelling tools (Erwin, Power Designer) and ability to design standards for cross-domain consistency
• Experience designing reusable patterns, APIs, and frameworks for self-serve data platforms
