About the role

The Payroll Manager is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations across ASEAN, North Asia, and Taiwan markets from the Hyderabad hub under the Malaysia Hub governance model.

This role ensures accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery across multiple jurisdictions while leading and developing the regional Payroll Team. The incumbent will act as the primary operational owner for payroll performance, governance, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement across assigned markets.

Your responsibilities

1. Regional Payroll Operations

· Manage end-to-end payroll processing for ASEAN, North Asia, and Taiwan markets.

· Ensure payroll accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with statutory and tax regulations.

· Oversee payroll calendars, reconciliations, validations, and reporting activities.

· Act as escalation point for complex payroll issues and ensure timely resolution.

· Maintain and continuously improve payroll documentation and standard operating procedures.

 

2. Governance and Compliance

· Ensure adherence to local statutory, labor, and tax regulations across all assigned countries.

· Strengthen payroll controls and risk mitigation practices.

· Support internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of audit findings.

· Monitor compliance with internal policies and global payroll standards.

 

3. Stakeholder Management

· Partner closely with HR, Finance, Tax, and country stakeholders to ensure smooth payroll delivery.

· Manage payroll-related escalations and communications professionally and effectively.

· Provide payroll performance updates and operational insights to the Malaysia Hub Lead.

· Support cross-functional collaboration within the hub operating model.

 

4. Team Leadership

· Lead, coach, and develop the Payroll Team supporting assigned markets.

· Drive performance management, capability development, and succession planning.

· Support workforce planning and workload balancing across payroll cycles.

· Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and service excellence.

 

5. Continuous Improvement and Projects

· Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and control.

· Support payroll system upgrades, UAT activities, and transition initiatives.

· Drive standardization and automation opportunities where feasible.

The experience we're looking for

· Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Commerce, Finance, or a related field.

· Minimum 10 years of payroll experience with multi-country exposure.

· Experience managing payroll across ASEAN and/or North Asia markets.

· Strong understanding of statutory payroll compliance.

· Experience leading a payroll team.

· Hands-on experience with payroll systems such as Celergo, Dayforce, Alight, Global View, or equivalent.

· Experience supporting payroll audits and system implementation projects preferred.

· Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

· Ability to work across time zones during payroll cycles when required.
