About the role

The Senior Manager – Payroll is responsible for leading and governing end-to-end payroll operations across a complex, multi-country region spanning Asia, Middle East, Africa, and ANZ. The role ensures accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll delivery through strategic vendor management, stakeholder partnership, and continuous process improvement aligned with global standards.

Your responsibilities

1. Payroll Governance & Delivery
•    Lead delivery of multi-country payroll operations across diverse regulatory environments through external partners.
•    Ensure accurate, timely payroll processing aligned with organizational standards and policies.
•    Act as the regional authority and single point of contact (SPOC) for all payroll-related matters, including escalations.

 

2. Compliance & Risk Management
•    Ensure strict adherence to statutory, legal, financial, and regulatory requirements across all supported countries.
•    Partner with payroll vendors, auditors, and legal advisors to maintain compliance and mitigate risks.
•    Drive a zero-tolerance approach to compliance breaches, ensuring robust controls and audit readiness.

 

3. Stakeholder & Vendor Management
•    Build strong partnerships with regional business leaders, HR, Finance, and global stakeholders.
•    Govern performance of multiple global payroll vendors, ensuring service excellence beyond contractual commitments.
•    Identify opportunities for cost optimization while maintaining quality and compliance.

 

4. Operational Excellence & Controls
•    Monitor payroll accuracy and proactively identify, resolve, and prevent errors.
•    Ensure thorough documentation, reporting of financial impact, and implementation of preventive controls.
•    Standardize processes in line with global payroll frameworks and best practices.

 

5. Transformation & Continuous Improvement
•    Lead and contribute to payroll transformation initiatives to improve efficiency, scalability, and user experience.
•    Introduce automation, standard KPIs, and data-driven insights to enhance payroll performance.
•    Drive innovation and continuous improvement aligned to broader organizational goals.

 

6. Reporting & Governance
•    Define and manage key performance indicators (KPIs), risk metrics, and customer satisfaction metrics.
•    Lead periodic governance forums, presenting performance insights, risks, and improvement plans.
•    Strengthen overall confidence in payroll operations through transparency and accountability.

 

7. Team Leadership & Capability Building
•    Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing payroll team.
•    Ensure strong succession planning, backup structures, and capability development.
•    Drive a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning aligned with organizational values.

 

8. Cross-Functional Collaboration
•    Collaborate with Finance, HR, and other service lines to ensure integrated and seamless service delivery.
•    Support business continuity planning and organizational initiatives.
•    Contribute to enterprise-wide transformation and strategic priorities.

The experience we're looking for

•    15–18 years of progressive experience in payroll operations, including multi-country payroll management.
•    Strong experience managing payroll across Asia, Middle East, and Africa, with deep expertise in India payroll.
•    Proven track record of leading large-scale payroll operations and vendor ecosystems.

•    Hands-on knowledge of payroll systems and platforms (global payroll tools preferred).
•    Ability to interpret payroll data and generate actionable insights and reports.
•    Strong communication skills with the ability to engage global stakeholders effectively.
•    Fluent in English (written and verbal).
