About the role
Are you keen to make a tangible difference in HSE Manager for ensuring that coordinating all HS&E programs and for leading all HS&E agenda for Elandsfontein site. The incumbent leads the deployment of Global strategy for embedding a Safety-First culture where each member of the team actively owns Safety and seeing its implementation across the site. You will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of a transformational Culture for Health and Safety programs, as well as Environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives for the site. You will be expected to demonstrate leadership behaviours, and a commitment to Health, Safety and Environment while ensuring the development of a strong talent pipeline and an engaged team
Your responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with current legislation and management of performance against environmental standards.
- Development of proposals to meet future legislation
- Responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of the organisation and for developing, implementing and monitoring environmental strategies that promote sustainable development.
- Participate as a key member of the Elandsfontein Site Leadership Team; drive strategic direction and vision of the site HS&E priorities.
- Partner with cross functional teams to foster a Safety-First culture through listening, education and training, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Works closely with the global HS&E team to support the business strategy under its scope of control, securing the deployment of initiatives, corporate and regulatory goals.
- Develop and execute long-term plans related to succession planning and team development, cost management, facility improvements, equipment upgrades and regulation changes.
- Effectively communicate and review the functional and financial performance of the HS&E department and programs, manages the tools and processes to monitor key performance indicators.
- Establish and implement HS&E strategic continuous improvement plans. Explores industry trends, develops strategies, and drives the adoption of leading EHS technology.
- Understand the continuous improvement (CI) methodologies and use them to drive sustained results, including continuous Safety related training & learning
- Implement training programs to educate employees on HS&E best practices.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures for all the sites.
- Audit HS&E systems and programs to ensure compliance to internal and external standards.
- Actively participate in the development of the fixed departmental and capital budgets and administer the approved budget under its responsibility including capital expense requests.
- Ensure that all physical assets of the site are effectively protected and maintained from a safety perspective.
- Ensure effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent incident investigation ability to support, challenge and strengthen site accident investigations. Point of contact from senior leadership for any follow up questions.
The experience we're looking for
- Bsc, BEng, B-Tech in Engineering, Health and Safety, Business management ,Pharmaceutical or other related discipline are required.
- Between 5-7 years within manufacturing, FMCG preferred
- 3+ years managerial experience in various areas of health and safety in a highly- regulated
- Knowledge of HS&E regulations and standards. Certification in relevant HS&E disciplines is a plus advantages
- Understanding managing Audits ,systems and risk management critical for the role.
- Good understanding of Global manufacturinf process & Systems deploymenet.
- Demostrated leadership in leading a high perfoming team.
