About the role

The Medical Doctor - Africa plays a critical leadership role in advancing Reckitt's Self-Care Health Agenda across Africa through Project Nitro and the activation of the healthcare ecosystem through Project Hippocrates.

This role serves as the medical bridge between science, healthcare professionals, policy makers, professional marketing, and external healthcare stakeholders. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving medical excellence, strengthening healthcare professional engagement, and developing strategic partnerships with key stakeholders across the healthcare pyramid, including Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Medical Associations, Government Institutions, Healthcare Payers, Academic Bodies, and Regulatory Authorities.

The role will work closely with Professional Marketing, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Healthcare Professional Relations, and Commercial teams to ensure that Reckitt's health portfolio continues to grow through evidence-based medical advocacy, compliant engagement, and scientific leadership.

This position is instrumental in supporting the organization's ambition of leading the future of Self-Care across Africa while improving consumer access to trusted healthcare solutions.

Your responsibilities

Lead medical strategy for Reckitt's Africa Health business, driving the Self-Care agenda and supporting Project Nitro to increase access to healthcare solutions across Africa.
Serve as the medical partner to Professional Marketing, providing scientific leadership for HCP engagement, detailing, educational programs, and promotional activities.
Lead Project Hippocrates by engaging key healthcare stakeholders, including KOLs, medical associations, government bodies, payers, and professional societies.
Drive and expand Reckitt's Africa KOL engagement program, building strategic partnerships with leading healthcare experts and influencers.
Provide medical leadership at congresses, scientific meetings, and Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs across the region.
Act as the regional medical expert, delivering evidence-based scientific guidance, medical insights, and support for healthcare brands and categories.
Build strong relationships with regulatory authorities, healthcare institutions, and external stakeholders while ensuring compliance with medical, ethical, and regulatory standards.
Support product registrations, claims substantiation, safety initiatives, and responsible healthcare communication across Africa.

The experience we're looking for

Essential

• MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery)
• Registered Medical Practitioner with relevant professional body (HPCSA or equivalent African Medical Council)
• Minimum 5 years clinical experience as a practicing medical professional
• Strong understanding of evidence-based medicine and healthcare systems

Preferred

• 2+ years’ experience within Pharmaceutical, Consumer Health, OTC, Medical Devices, Life Sciences, or Healthcare Industry
• Experience engaging healthcare professionals, KOLs, medical associations, or government stakeholders
• Experience supporting congresses, medical education, or CME programmes
• Knowledge of healthcare policy, market access, reimbursement, and payer environments across Africa
• Experience working within a multi-country African environment
