About the role

Location - Hull, HU8 7DS

 

Our Environmental Engineer is responsible for all Environment and Sustainability activities that take place across our Hull site. They conduct assessments, audits and health checks to ensure compliance with legal, local & Reckitt environmental standards , and will develop procedures and processes to work alongside our site Environmental Management System. They lead our environmental improvement agenda, GHG, water and energy reduction and cost saving projects 

 

Good leadership and communication skills are essential in the role as cross functional collaboration is key to being successful. Our Environmental Engineer will lead improvement activities including Improvement plans, workshops, training, external supplier knowledge and resource where required. Experience working within a fast paced manufacturing environment is preferred.

Your responsibilities

  • Support compliance, audit status, Energy, Waste & Water KPI’s, Communication & Training.
  • Working as part of the site EHS Team leading the site monthly updates on E&S, whilst working collaboratively with cross functional teams to deliver E&S benefits and KPI adherence.
  • Key points of contact for the role are: EHS Manager, Site Director, Site Engineering Manager, Site Services Manager, Asset Care Manager, PSL’s, QC Lab Lead, Global E&S Team & Technical Manager. 
  • Support the EHS compliance Leader to ensure the site remains compliant both legally & to Reckitt Global Environmental Standards on E&S. Where non-compliance is identified a remediation plan is identified, communicated and actioned. 
  • Conduct self-assessments, audits and health checks periodically to identify any areas of risk or non-compliance which can be addressed prior to any internal or external audit.
  • Develop robust procedures and processes to ensure delivery of the site Environment Master Plan (EMS).
  • Prepare, support and lead E&S audits for the site.
  • Lead E&S improvement activities for the site. Improvement Plans, Workshops, Training, external supplier knowledge and resource where required. Linking the improvement activities to Site & Reckitt Global Sustainability targets.
  • Update and monitor monthly E&S KPI’s and develop plans to address and improve any KPI’s which are off track.
  • Develop and support delivery of the site E&S training programme, which will deliver compliance, understanding, knowledge and wider impact on E&S delivery. 
  • Demonstrate expertise and provide guidance for the site by staying up to date on legislation, identifying best practice opportunities from other organisations and external sources. 

The experience we're looking for

  • Certified in IEMA Environmental Management or equivalent
  • Either Degree in Engineering or related subject with 3-5 years experience in industry 
  • Desirable qualification of Practitioner Member of IEMA (PIEMA) or equivalent
  • 3-5 years environmental experience (ideally in an FMCG operation)
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge and application of UK regulatory standards
  • Knowledge and application of ISO14001, ISO 45001, ISO9001 standards
  • Demonstrable experience leading programs and activities across cross-functional areas
  • Knowledge and understanding of Pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging operations and facilities
  • Strong IT & Data Analysis skills including familiarity with ERP Systems, Microsoft 2016, Power BI & open to use of new software applications
