About the role

You will be responsible for the compliance of all packaging material specifications across Health and Hygiene. You will deliver an enduring positive change in the way in which R&D develops and delivers new products and the way the wider organization supports these product pre and post product launch. Working across Core Reckitt, you will play a lead role in executing the end-to-end business process for packaging material specifications, from their creation to their retirement.

Your responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to transform our packaging material specification portfolio.
  • Consolidate our packaging material specification portfolio, ensuring the business remove duplicates, increasing the number of cross-site PM specs where applicable, and broadening the range of our PM specs where appropriate, at all times ensuring they meet the holistic needs of our business.
  • In collaboration with the BPL-PM define a set of data quality standards for our Packaging material specification portfolio and raise the quality of our PM specs to meet these standards.
  • Define and Align KPIs to track our progress towards the goal of a PM spec portfolio reduced in size and of higher quality.
  • Working with the BPL-PM for guidance follow the process for PM specification management that is defined in our new operating model.
  • Work with Regional Packaging leaders to maintain a team of specification managers to support you in these activities that possess the distributed skill and knowledge set to cover our diverse set of Packaging materials and products in which they will be used.
  • Work with Procurement to ensure that our PM spec portfolio is developed whilst being mindful of the packaging materials and associated suppliers that our procurement organization is guiding us to.
  • Collaborate with and nurture good working relationships with our partner organizations who will provide input into specifications, namely regulatory, safety, quality, procurement, manufacturing and of course R&D Packaging development leadership team who will be Accountable for quality and continuous improvement of specifications written in their region. 
  • Use Specification data to identify opportunities that drive value for Base business and collaborate to drive projects through to delivery through existing processes and Governance forums.

The experience we're looking for

  • Significant experience of leading large teams and line management, with the ability to influence areas with no direct reporting authority.
  • Strong communication, influencing, impact and interpersonal skills, the ability to operate successfully in various team capacities, a multi-cultural environment, at senior levels and with external partners.
  • Proven track record in leading, defining and delivering major global transformation projects.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of corporate codes of conduct.
  • The business language is English, therefore fluency in English is essential and fluency in other languages advantageous.
  • A good understanding of the product lifecycle and of regulations impacting the FMCG sector.
  • Working knowledge as a practitioner in several of the following areas: procurement of packaging materials, identification of fit for purpose packaging material from suppliers, Packaging development, Specification Management, Packaging Material portfolio management, complexity reduction, Hand over to Manufacturing, Regulatory and Safety assessment as they apply to Packaging materials e.g. Reach.
  • Strong IT literacy with proficiency in the use of the MS Office product suite.
  • Self-motivated with strong planning, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks under pressure.
