About the role

12 month Year In Industry Non Laboratory or Laboratory Based Placement  - Hull

Start Date - June 2026

Non- Laboratory based placements will be within the Regulatory, Medical, Safety, or Sustainability teams, giving you the opportunity to work on some of our world leading brands.  

Fully office based with no laboratory work, as such please ensure your degree requirements for your placement year are suitable with this placement.

Laboratory based placements will be based within one of our Research and Development teams. Your time will be divided between working in the lab as well completing desk-based research and collaborating with colleagues.

For both Lab and Non-Lab placements you must be studying a scientific degree, including but not limited to Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical Science, Microbiology, pharmaceutical science or any other life science degree.

For all roles you should have scientific curiosity, be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, have strong attention to detail, enjoy the challenge of delivering under pressure and working collaborative in a team environment.

Your responsibilities

Depending on the team you join your responsibilities could include;

 

Non - Lab

- Helping the team, working to implement specific rules and regulations for all Reckitt products to be sold around the globe

- Collaborating closely with key stakeholders internationally

- Working with the Consumer Safety team to ensure all products are safe for consumers to use

- Guiding the business towards safer choices in product designs, safety labelling, ingredients and packaging materials

- Supporting Reckitt’s toxicologists in working closely with project teams to apply scientific principles

- Gaining insights into the regulatory requirements for conducting clinical trials and the processes to protect human subjects participating in them

Lab

- Providing technical input and supporting a range of developments in our portfolio of health products.

- Developing products, solving technical challenges or project specific analytical testing

- Developing new formulations for Strepsils or Nurofen

- Supporting the Microbiology team with performing microbial quality preservative efficacy testing

The experience we're looking for

- You must be studying a scientific degree, including but not limited to Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical Science, Microbiology, pharmaceutical science or any other life science degree.

- This placement will give you a fantastic foundation of knowledge of Reckitt and a unique insight into the workings of a global FMCG company.

- You will have the opportunity to work in Reckitt’s state of the art £100m Science and Innovation Centre – the largest single investment in the company’s history. The site is one of Reckitt’s largest healthcare development centres worldwide.

- There are opportunities to be involved in the YII student mentoring programme, various workshops and courses to support with your personal development and to take part in charity and fundraising events.

 

At the end of your placement you may also have the opportunity to apply for our Future Leaders Programme.
