About the role
The Distributor Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing both the strategic planning and daily operations of a company’s distribution network. This role integrates distributor & sales team relationship management & performance, supply chain management, trade service level & inventory control to ensure the smooth and efficient movement & distribution of goods.
Your responsibilities
1. Top Customers Growth Management
- Lead development and execution of 4P strategies (Product, Price, Place, Promotion) across top customers.
- Ensure excellence in in-store execution, including visibility, distribution, planogram compliance, pricing strategy, and promotional effectiveness.
- Use shopper, customer, and market insights to shape customer‑specific 4P blueprints.
- Design and execute offtake-focused programs to accelerate sell‑out performance, especially with top customers.
- Drive the Joint Business Plan (JBP) agenda, ensuring alignment on category growth strategies, activation plans, trade terms, and performance KPIs.
- Track performance vs JBP commitments and course-correct in collaboration with Sales and Trade Marketing.
2. Channel Strategy & Category Growth Framework
- Develop and deploy standardized national activation frameworks aligned to category growth drivers and priority shopper missions.
- Ensure activations are consistent, scalable, and aligned with category and brand priorities.
- Work with internal Trade Marketing to ensure activation windows, toolkits, and mechanics are fit-for-purpose across all channels.
3. Distributor Excellence & Operating Model Support
- Build structured distributor IMS & distribution packages with clear metrics, incentives, and execution standards to drive coverage, availability, and velocity.
- Support the Distributor Planning Operating Model, ensuring clarity on monthly priorities, investment allocations, and performance tracking.
- Partner with RSM to ensure plan & actions are translated into strong execution on the ground.
4. Data Analytic & Management
- Manage ROI for all trade investments, ensuring decisions are data‑driven and spend is optimized.
- Build clear post‑evaluation reports with insights and action plans.
- Translate big data into actionable commercial plans, using analytics to influence decision-making on pricing, promotions, distribution, and resource allocation
5. Capability Building & CoE Support
- Support the development and execution of the Top Customer CoE (Center of Excellence) to become a capability hub for the business.
- Develop and deploy playbooks, templates, negotiation frameworks, and operating model guidelines to uplift overall execution capability.
- Train and guide sales & field team to ensure consistent adoption and execution of CoE frameworks.
The experience we're looking for
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Commerce, or related fields.
- 3–5 years experience in Trade Marketing, Channel Marketing, Key Account Sales.
- Strong understanding of Malaysian retail environment (Local Supermarket, Minimarket retailers, Convenience & Petrolmart chain, Large Provisions)
- Analytical, structured thinker with strong commercial acumen.
- Advanced skills in Excel, Power BI, Nielsen/Shopper data usage, and PowerPoint.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
