Our Sales teams help to deliver Reckitt's purpose by building shared success with our customers, making access to the highest quality hygiene, wellness, and nourishment possible in-stores and online. Within Sales, we're focused on achieving outperformance across all of our channels, operating in highly competitive categories. This focus results in a dynamic, fast paced environment where cross functional teams are encouraged to collaborate to achieve success. We have around 10,000 sales people across the world, within market roles and ranging in areas like Field Sales, Key Accounts, Trade Marketing and Category Development.

About the role

The Distributor Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing both the strategic planning and daily operations of a company’s distribution network. This role integrates distributor & sales team relationship management & performance, supply chain management, trade service level & inventory control to ensure the smooth and efficient movement & distribution of goods.

Your responsibilities

Strategic Planning
    •    Develop and implement distribution strategies aligned with company goals, balancing cost-efficiency and service levels.
    •    Continuously optimize distribution networks for faster delivery, cost savings, and operational efficiency.

Inventory Management
    •    Maintain optimal distributor inventory, ensuring timely replenishment (VMI) while minimizing stockouts/overstock.
    •    Monitor and validate distributor stock data via DMS for accuracy.

Distributor & Sales Team Management
    •    Build strong distributor and sales team relationships, aligning on service levels and distribution plans.
    •    Negotiate and renew contracts on terms covering finance, payment, logistics, and headcount in coordination with regional/legal teams.
    •    Evaluate distributor performance with KPIs (delivery accuracy, lead times, satisfaction) and drive improvements via DMS.

Operational Oversight
    •    Oversee logistics to ensure timely, accurate deliveries and efficient transportation routes.
    •    Support warehouse teams in order processing, packing, and dispatch.
    •    Ensure accurate and timely order fulfilment with minimal errors.

Control & Efficiency
    •    Manage budgets, driving cost savings and monitoring distributor claim submissions.
    •    Define trade service routes based on time-motion studies for optimal channel coverage.
    •    Improve efficiency by aligning transport routes with sales coverage and streamlining warehouse activities.
    •    Establish SOPs for trade/distributor returns in line with company policy.

Performance & Reporting
    •    Standardize distributor operations with SOPs across teams nationwide.
    •    Design sales team KPIs and incentives linked to call frequency, effectiveness, and returns.
    •    Leverage data to guide decisions, create action plans, and optimize distributor performance.
    •    Monitor warehouse/delivery KPIs and report via distributor scorecards.

Risk & Compliance
    •    Assess and mitigate distribution risks with contingency planning.
    •    Ensure compliance with regulations, safety, and company policies.
    •    Enforce quality control and manage product recalls with QA/Operations.

Technology Enablement
    •    Lead DMS/ERP/WMS/TMS implementation for improved efficiency.
    •    Automate routine distribution and inventory processes (tracking, replenishment, route planning).

The experience we're looking for

  • Experience: Strong background in distributor management, sales team management, supply chain management, logistics & operations with proven experience managing complex distribution networks nationwide. 
  • Analytical Abilities: Strong ability to analyse data and make data-driven decisions for distribution optimization, sales team efficiency, inventory control & distributor performance. 
  • Leadership: Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing relationships with external partners (sales, procurement, marketing, legal, logistic, quality assurance, human resource, finance & regional teams). 
  • Technology Proficiency: Knowledge of DMS, ERP, WMS, Power BI and other related software tools. 
  • Problem Solving: Ability to quickly address and resolve operational challenges, such as delays, stockouts, or distributor issues. 
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to work effectively with internal teams and distributors team.
