Financial Controller - MYSG

About the role

This role is a key member of the country Finance Leadership Team with accountability for overall monthly financial closing process, statutory reporting and filing, and tax accounting.  Member of the global finance controller group to drive business hygiene in full compliance with local statutory and internal controls.  Work closely with key stakeholders including local management, internal / external auditors, tax officials, corporate tax and treasury team. This role will manage a team with five direct reports ensuring top quality financial support for effective decision making within the business. 

Your responsibilities

  • Manage the accurate and timely production of all financial information and reports across the market, implementing and maintaining effective processes to improve the reporting process; Work effectively with auditors
  • Manage all accounting activities within the market, advising on all accounting matters affecting of concerning the market, act as the technical / subject matter experts in all accounting matters
  • Oversee the preparation of all financial statements/reporting, secure data integrity and ensures full compliance of local statutory reporting with local legislation and requirements
  • Perform cash projections to effectively manage cash balances and maximise the return on any cash balances
  • Manage FX exposure; performance FX exposure forecast; actively look for ways to minimize the FX exposure; work closely with Corp Treasury on hedges
  • Complete proper analytical review of the asset operations from a balance sheet, income statement and cash flow perspective as well as an overall business perspective
  • Review monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained,
  • Ensure the accurate and prompt presentation of taxes (direct and indirect); address any foreseeable issues / concerns in relation to the taxes and legal entity matters.
  • Manage tax authorities inquiries and visits in the most timely and effective manner.
  • Ensure a proper control environment in the company. Regular testing of local processes as per Reckitt Financial Controls Framework (RFCF).
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring the company is well prepared and no major issues are found. Timely closure on all outstanding recommendations and agreed improvements
  • Oversee budget process ensuring budget guidelines are in place, relevant information is provided for budget preparation and expenditures are within agreed upon parameters.
  • Leading, developing, and managing Financial Accounting team

The experience we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s or Master degree in Finance and/or Accountancy from a recognized university
  • Accredited member of any internationally recognized organization, e.g. ACCA, CPA, CMA, etc.
  • At least 10 years of FMCG experience preferably with large blue chip / international organizations
  • At least 2 years in a professional accounting firm preferred
  • Exposure in the field of management accounting and reporting
  • Working/professional Knowledge of SAP/JDE, Hyperion and Microsoft office (advanced level).
  • In depth understanding of respective Finance function’s processes
  • Strong organizational and management skills and ability to see the big picture while focusing on the process and procedures necessary to produce deliverables
  • Flexibility and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to meet and establish deadlines & Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player

The skills for success

Need to have strong background in both Financial Control & Reporting, with proven capabilities in business partnering and change management, together with talent development & leadership qualities
