About the role

IT&D Solution Architect – SAP Controlling is responsible for to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of SAP Finance and Controlling solutions. The ideal candidate will possess deep functional expertise in SAP CO, strong integration knowledge with SAP FI and other business processes, and the ability to translate business requirements into scalable SAP solutions. The role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, finance leadership, solution architects, and project teams to drive process standardization and digital transformation initiatives.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead solution design and architecture for SAP Controlling (CO) processes across global business functions.
  • Gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into SAP solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Design and implement SAP CO functionalities including Cost Center Accounting (CCA),Internal Orders (IO),Profit Center Accounting (PCA),Product Costing (PC),Profitability Analysis (CO-PA) and Activity-Based Costing (ABC)
  • Drive SAP S/4HANA Finance and Controlling transformation initiatives.
  • Define integration solutions with SAP FI, MM, SD, PP, PS, and BW/Analytics.
  • Lead workshops, solution blueprinting sessions, and stakeholder discussions.
  • Provide guidance on best practices for financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
  • Support end-to-end project delivery, including design, configuration, testing, deployment, and hypercare.
  • Collaborate with technical teams on interfaces, workflows, reports, enhancements, and data migration activities.
  • Conduct solution reviews and ensure compliance with governance, audit, and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor functional consultants and provide architectural leadership across project teams.
  • Support business process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of controlling master data including cost centers, profit centers, activity types, statistical key figures, cost elements, assessment/distribution cycles, and order types.
  • Support planning and budgeting cycles within CO, including cost center planning, activity rate planning, and cost allocations.
  • Assist in Product Costing processes such as material cost estimates, BOM/Routing costing, WIP calculation, variance analysis, and month-end settlement activities.
  • Support in preparation of functional specifications for enhancements, reports, allocation logic, cost simulations, interfaces, and workflow improvements.
  • Monitor integrations between CO and other modules: FI (actual postings), MM (material movements), PP (production orders), SD (billing), and PM (maintenance orders).
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities including cost center reconciliations, internal order settlement, COPA reporting, overhead calculation, and variance explanations.
  • Work with managed service providers to ensure timely incident resolution, root‑cause analysis, and SLA adherence.
  • Support CO master data governance — cost centers, profit centers, activity types, internal orders, and cost element hierarchies.
  • Participate in regression testing, UAT, integration testing, and cutover tasks for new deployments or enhancements.

The experience we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, IT, or related field.
  • Strong leadership and solution architecture capabilities.
  •   Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  •   Ability to engage senior business stakeholders.
  •   Strong presentation and workshop facilitation skills.
  •   Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and global teams.
  •   Mentoring and team development experience.
  • Strong understanding of cost center accounting, internal orders, profit center accounting, activity planning, budgeting, and COPA.
  • Experience in manufacturing or product costing (material cost estimates, BOM/Routing costing, WIP, variance analysis).
  • Understanding of integrations with MM (P2P), SD (Billing), and Bank/Treasury modules.  
  • Prior involvement in SAP rollouts, enhancements, or migration projects. 
  • Ability to work in distributed global teams across time zones.
