About the role

As a Customer & Category Manager, you will play a key role in driving category growth, strengthening brand visibility, and delivering commercial performance across retail channels in Portugal. Acting as a strategic partner to Sales, Marketing, Category Development, and external partners, you will translate shopper and market insights into impactful customer plans, best-in-class activation, and sustainable business growth.

  • Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Supply, and Category teams to deliver aligned business plans, drive category growth, and support commercial performance through insight-led recommendations.
  • Lead promotional planning, activation calendars, visibility initiatives, and omnichannel shopper engagement programs, ensuring strong in-store execution and impactful shopper experiences.
  • Manage the development and production of point-of-sale materials, ensuring compliance with brand guidelines and customer requirements, while overseeing the execution of activation plans from briefing through to delivery.
  • Lead relationships with creative, production, and activation agencies, managing timelines, budgets, feedback, and execution quality to ensure effective delivery of shopper marketing initiatives.
  • Build compelling, data-driven customer presentations and business cases, while continuously monitoring market trends, competitor activity, shopper behaviour, and campaign performance to identify opportunities for optimisation and growth.
  • Manage shopper marketing investments responsibly, evaluating promotional ROI, sell-out performance, and execution KPIs to maximize return on investment and support sustainable business growth.

The experience we're looking for

  • Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field,
  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience in Customer Marketing, Shopper Marketing, Trade Marketing, Category Management, or a similar commercial role within the FMCG industry.
  • Strong commercial acumen and results-driven mindset, with the ability to translate shopper, consumer, and market insights into growth opportunities and actionable business plans.
  • Solid understanding of the Portuguese retail landscape, customer dynamics, category management principles, and commercial planning processes.
  • Experience working with creative and production agencies, including campaign development and execution processes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a collaborative approach to working across cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets; experience with Nielsen, Circana, and Emnos is an advantage.
