The Head of Finance  is the lead finance role in our Essential Home unit in Canada.  This role works closely with local & regional leadership teams, provides key insights, support strategic decisions and enables commercial partners to live company’s operating model.

Your responsibilities

Business Partnering
• Partner with senior leadership and commercial teams to provide data driven insights and support strategic decision-making.
• Act as the key finance partner to sales, marketing, and supply chain teams, driving financial accountability.
• Influence business decisions through robust financial analysis and narrative, ensuring profitable growth and sustainable investments.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
• Lead the budgeting, forecasting financial planning processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives and group requirements
• Provide insightful financial analysis to drive decision-making on revenue, margins, and cost optimization.
• Through financial modelling, support strategic initiatives, scenario planning, and investment decisions.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide variance analysis with actionable recommendations.
• Deliver 13 week rolling cash flow forecasting.

Trade & Revenue Management
• Oversee trade spend analysis, ensuring efficiency and return on investment (ROI) for promotional activities and discounts.
• Partner with sales and commercial teams to optimize pricing, trade terms, and channel profitability.
• Ensure accurate accruals and reporting for trade spend, balancing growth with financial discipline.
• Identify opportunities to enhance margin management and profitability across product categories and channels.

Marketing & Brand Investment
• Work closely with marketing team to evaluate the financial impact of brand investments and campaigns.
• Provide financial governance over marketing budgets, ensuring spend efficiency and alignment with strategic goals.
• Track closely the marketing ROI and recommend improvements based on insights.
• Monitor product profitability and support innovation pipeline with financial viability analysis.

Cost Optimization & Profitability Management
• Identify and implement cost efficiency initiatives without compromising business growth.
• Drive margin improvement strategies, balancing pricing, mix, and cost levers.

Leadership & Governance
• Lead and develop a high-performing commercial finance team, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with financial controls, policies, and reporting standards.

The experience we're looking for

  • Degree in Economics/Finance - MBA and /or CPA is considered a plus
  • 10+ years of post-qualification work experience, preferably in Commercial Finance/FP&A in CPG industry
  • Proven team management and people development is considered a plus
  • Strong Functional Expertise: Excellent understanding of P&L, Balance sheet and Cash flow & ability to triangulate understanding across
  • Experience with SAP ERP is considered a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to create an environment and organizational structure which facilitates the achievement of the team's short-term goals and long term objectives.
