About Sales

Our Sales teams help to deliver Vestacy's purpose by building shared success with our customers, making access to the highest quality brands possible in-stores and online. Within Sales, we're focused on achieving outperformance across all our channels, operating in highly competitive categories. This focus results in a dynamic, fast paced environment where cross functional teams are encouraged to collaborate to achieve success. We have hundreds of salespeople across the world, within market roles and ranging in areas like Field Sales, Key Accounts, Trade Marketing and Category Development.

About the role

We are seeking a highly driven sales leader to take on our largest Canadian Grocery, Drug and Hardware accounts with end-to-end ownership and exceedingly strong discipline on business building and forecasting. Your experience and insight will help drive higher quality decisions across the business with a lens on customer impact. We act as owners, we collaborate seamlessly to flow to the work, and we interrogate every opportunity to advance our business against unrelenting competition.

 

In your role, you will cultivate strong relationships with external partners both in the Commercial and Supply Chain functions. Leveraging prior sales experience and negotiating prowess, you will carve out mutually-beneficial joint business plans where we win together with our customers. While this role entails direct selling and forecast acumen, you will also be supported by an exceptionally talented cross-functional team including Sales, Trade Marketing (Strategy), Marketing, Finance and Supply. Together, we will build a world-class business with our unique portfolio of products. Specific emphasis is placed on (1) growing new users, (2) maximizing profitability and (3) free cashflow.

Your responsibilities

•    Responsible for delivery of PLAN financial performance (P&L) and in-market performance (share of dollars, TDP, display and promo)
•    Achieves annual business plan targets; monitors performance and intervene with actions to activate against opportunities and risks when necessary
•    Drives forecasting discipline with ruthless accuracy and precision on Gross Sales and Trade Spend, with attention to monthly phasing and over-communication of +/- gaps vs. expectations
•    Partners strongly with CPFR to secure customer supply plans (where available), integrating into their internal forecasting approach and projecting POS forecasts for the fiscal year
•    Provide strategic direction and further sales expansion and margin optimization within the market; develop and recommend product positioning, packaging and pricing to achieve highest possible long-term market share
•    Leads the Annual Sales Plan for their customers
•    Responsible for achieving customer/channel plan and delivering the market approved trade spend 
•    Employs an external focus to build strategic relationships with customers, developing local channel strategy that is right for the market; negotiates contracts based on maximising business growth at delivering sustainable ROI
•    Works with Trade Marketing and Brand Marketing to ensure range reviews, category proposals and customer presentations that best meet customer needs
•    Customer innovation: operates with intensive curiosity; identifies new revenue streams within our categories and customers
•    Other responsibilities as necessary

The experience we're looking for

  • 5-8 years experience in direct sales and/or sales strategy
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Excellent knowledge of FMCG industry, distribution networks & customer base
  • Excellent financial acumen
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that are effective across the organization
  • Analytical ability to understand the business trends and provide projections based on that insight
  • Embraces an independent sense of urgency to personally organize and plan effectively
  • Strong leadership skills, effective management skills, exceptional relationship-builder
  • Strong problem solving and creative thinking to address new issues and identify business building ideas
  • Strong strategic agility to anticipate market trends and challenges across customers, channels and regions in Canada and where necessary globally
