You could join our Global Supply Planning team to develop and implement our global supply strategy, or work with our Procurement Centre of Excellence team to negotiate and manage our supplier relationships. Our Manufacturing Excellence team help us improve the efficiency, quality and safety of our manufacturing operations, and our Logistics Excellence team develop new and innovative ways to distribute our products to customers.
About the role
As a Operations Capability Lead you will play a key role in ensuring our employees have the skills, knowledge, and confidence required to carry out their work in alignment with Standard Operating Procedures and regulatory requirements. You will support the development of highly capable teams across the factory by delivering engaging training programmes, identifying skill gaps, and driving performance through high-quality learning interventions.
This role sits at the heart of our commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with operational leaders, technical teams, and HR to maintain training standards, improve onboarding, and ensure training delivery aligns with business needs within a fast-paced FMCG environment.
Your responsibilities
Training Delivery & Programme Management
- Delivering the Company Induction Programme and tailoring materials to suit different audiences while maintaining Group standards.
- Delivering accredited training where applicable (e.g., First Aid at Work, Fire Marshall Training, Forklift Truck Training).
- Delivering classroom training and toolbox talks/single-point lessons on Safety, Quality, Engineering, and Production topics.
- Ensuring all mandatory and line‑related training material meets required quality standards.
- Verifying previously delivered training to ensure employees follow Standard Operating Procedures correctly.
Performance & Capability Development
- Identifying skills gaps and supporting line managers in creating and maintaining employees’ training plans and portfolios.
- Guiding line managers through probationary training processes, ensuring new hires achieve probation milestones.
- Coaching and mentoring employees to help them reach competence across relevant operational areas.
- Conducting training needs analysis and supporting continuous improvement of training programmes.
Compliance & Documentation
- Supporting compliance by maintaining training plans, records, skills matrices, and training gap analyses.
- Ensuring global and corporate mandatory training is completed across manufacturing teams.
- Preparing training documentation and reporting for audits and regulatory inspections.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Acting as a point of contact for internal and external audits related to training.
- Partnering with the Technical and Compliance Training Manager to develop and evaluate comprehensive training plans.
- Working with EHS teams to deliver monthly Safety Briefs.
- Reviewing Standard Operating Procedures and identifying required updates.
- Supporting operational leaders to embed a strong safety and quality culture.
The experience we're looking for
Professional Skills & Competencies
- Experience working within a regulated or FMCG environment.
- Strong subject‑matter knowledge within manufacturing operations.
- Proven experience delivering training programmes and facilitating group learning.
- Ability to engage and influence employees at all levels with a dynamic and engaging delivery style.
- Strong coaching and mentoring capability.
- Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage deadlines and deliver against targets.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across functions.
- Good understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Qualifications (Preferred but Not Essential)
- PTLLS, CTP or Train the Trainer qualification (training can be provided).
- IOSH Managing Safely.
