About the role

The Packaging Technologist is responsible for the scoping, management and delivery of packaging projects within the factory and supply area. The role plays a critical part in supporting innovation, productivity, compliance and operational excellence through the execution of packaging-related activities, validation programmes and technical problem-solving.

The Packaging Technologist works cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Validation, Supply Chain, R&D, Marketing and Regulatory teams to ensure packaging solutions are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.

Your responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver packaging projects, including New Product Development (NPD), Existing Product Development (EPD), productivity initiatives, CAPEX projects, and technical transfers.
  • Lead packaging validation activities, ensuring packaging equipment, processes, and changes are fully qualified and compliant through IQ, OQ, and PQ processes.
  • Provide technical expertise to support manufacturing operations, resolve packaging-related issues, and improve product quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Coordinate packaging trials, ensuring appropriate planning, documentation, approvals, testing, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support factory change control processes and ensure all packaging changes are effectively assessed, validated, and implemented.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Validation, Supply Chain, R&D, Regulatory, and Marketing teams to deliver projects on time, in full, and within budget.
  • Manage packaging component changes and cost-saving initiatives while maintaining compliance and product quality.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure adherence to quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance packaging processes, reduce complexity, and standardise ways of working.
  • Coach and develop Packaging Technicians and team members, building technical capability and supporting achievement of departmental KPIs.

The experience we're looking for

  • At least 2 years experience within a Packaging Technician/ Techologist Role - Essential 
  • Experience within packaging, manufacturing, engineering or technical operations.
  • Strong understanding of packaging materials, components and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience managing projects within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of validation principles and quality management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple functions and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
